There's a beautiful picture of this rainbow color-schemed car , now all restored, on a website called

Ron Hyde's De Tomaso Cars Page - Contact

I remember hearing that Bill Hohnhorst and fellow Pantera clubber Alan found it one day in the classifieds in SD, can't remember if it was the San Diego Union Tribune or Auto Trader.
What surprised me was that it was in the US., Ford having an exclusive to import Panteras but somehow this one got ordered and shipped even while Ford was importing the street models (though I did see another red and black GT/4 at Stroppes, I don't know who that was for, maybe somebody in the Ford family.)

Anyhow I am trying to recollect, for a historial story, what Bill and Alan Foster paid for the car in 1995, I think it was under $20,000, and , less important, I'd like to know what it was sold for though I remember that they traded it for a racing Mustang! Love to hear about this one.

by the way despite the wild paint schem it sports now, I don't think it's the so-called "Candy"
racing Pantera sponsored by a candy company. that was a different GT/4

I saw one here in California a while back,,, 1971 Pantera with alloy front fenders, FORD Merlin or Merlyn motor....?
Spell check ,,, Overhead chain driven camshafts,, don't know if there was two or four.
Nice young gentleman on the phone, in the grocery store lot,, this is his grocery getter.
    Ha ha... Love it.
Then he lifted the rear cover so I could see the motor.

    Didn't have my camera. Dou!,

it was used in the aircraft fighters of allied Air Forces in WWII
I have seen them in old Rolls Royces
but I don't think they would fit in a Pantera.
I am talking about the factory Gruppe IV cars that used a regular pushrod
iron block iron heads 351 Cleveland built to 550 hp.
