That price wouldn't be judged excessive in Britain for such a car. There is quite a lot of Italian car lovers here, and this is a sample of what Alfa was doing best then, and should be making now. The mileage is quite low too, which is a good point.
Really? Wow that's amazing. A 79 Alfa sedan here wouldn't get $2400 on craigslist. In fact it might go for as little as $1200.
They are the last of the rear-wheel drive Alfa, and have more value for aficionados than the later front-wheel drive FIAT-based cars. In their days, these cars used to be on a par with BMWs. These are collectors cars, or at least Alfa club here.
In the early 70s the same could be said here in the USA. Alfa could be a nice 3/5 series and a4/6 competitor if it does it right.
