Believe it or not, the Jeep brand is very popular in Italy. I was there a few months ago and lot of people were checking out of these new Cherokees in the parking lot. The Cherokee in the USA is a surprise hit also. The purists hate it but the public in general likes it.
Love that ad.... How can you say they are not Jeep? The whole VW Group shares platforms... Is a Lamborghini not a Lamborghini anymore too? ;-)
My daily is a Cheep Jerokee. I drive it like I stole it and beat the hell out of it. Have used it before w/ rallytires to do recce (recon of rally races to make pacenotes) on very rough forest roads at speed. Has never left me stranded. Odo reads 220K miles. They are tanks.

Nope, Grand Cherokee is made, err assembled in Detroit, the Wrangler in Toledo, Ohio, and the Compass/Patriot in Illinois. My daily for ~ 10 years was a 4 cyl, 5 spd Liberty that was essentially flawless...loved it!
