Are those the correct taillights? It will look great post restoration, for sure, for whoever is brave enough to restore it. It's not an "America" is it?
They are the correct taillights for the late Convertibles. You are right- this is not a Spider America. This is the Convertible that replaced it starting in 1956. Spider America has several distinguishing features, most noticeably split bumpers, a cut windshield, and lower doors with no windows nor external hardware. Technically, Spiders share more with the 5th Series B20 and Convertibles are more frequently 6th Series. For a Ferrari line-up analogy, one can think of Convertibles as S2 PF Cabs and Spiders more like a comparable steel LWB Cal Spider.
Yes, because it was a car built for the US market with the period specifics, as like as the overrides on the bumpers. The unoriginal parts are the seats only, replaced in the '70.
The headlights also look like later '70's sealed-beam replacements by the lens pattern (I think the originals would have been Carellos - unless they were diff different on the last US Convertibles?). Since the left one is cracked, it's a moot point. Visibly, the car seems pretty complete.
True. The correct seats would be tougher. But there aren't a lot of unobtanium parts that appear to be missing here, as is often the case when these cars are "unearthed."
NB: Spiders are 4th series Aurelias, Convertibles are 5th/6th series. With an exterior trunk latch, this is a 6th series.
