Just cut and pasted from current AUTOMOBILE Magazine:

"Blame China’s economic slowdown and a shift in capital expenditures to Jeep as the key reasons Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has delayed its Alfa Romeo revival by at least two years, to 2020. “Our commitment to the overall brand strategy remains in place” for Alfa Romeo, said FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne, Wednesday, in an investment analysis conference call following FCA’s announcement of a net fiscal year 2015 profit of 377 million euros [$408.9 million]."

New Alfas in 2020. By which time the Sweater will already have been retired two years. IMHO this plunges a dagger into the heart of Alfa enthusiasts in the U.S. and around the world and ends all hope FIAT may have had in restoring the Alfa marque. For shame!

Well, he is a piece of work, but this is old news. The Giulia will still be coming this year with more engines coming in 2017. The big delay will be the SUV. They could cancel that and I would be happy. Maserati coupe could also be delayed and if we are lucky the Maserati SUV as Maserati's are not selling as well now (due to China no doubt :) )...........

Sergio is pragmatic and a realist if a little harsh at times. I do think that investing strongly in Jeep is smart and cutting some basic cars made by Dodge and Chrysler is smart.

People rave about the Cherokee but its based on the same bloody platform as the Dart and 200, an extension of the Alfa Giulietta chassis. Funny how brand perception can distort someone's view.

As for Alfa, I believe the main obstacle aside from funding is a proper dealer network and customer experience. YOU DO NOT want to sell luxury cars competing with Germany and Japan and burn the customers like they did in the 80's and 90's.

Hopefully this Giulia is as good as it looks.
