    I had a search and it seems there isn't a discussion around this subject.
    Time warp cars are now "asking" significant money.
    One 1750 in the UK for 45UKP and one in Australia(2000 GTV) for 99,999.00 AUD. Which is under offer...

    A lot of them are rust buckets now so good ones are getting rarer and rarer

    I was in Italy last week talking about Fiat 500's. You still see them on the streets.

    Prices though are all over the place. Some are trashed and not worth restoring and others that have been perfectly kept up are expensive. There's not much in between.

    Italian cars of the 70's are notorious for falling apart. Finding a good one will cost you more than finding your average one.

    Lots of them are definitely rust buckets but I am finding amazing people are restoring what was once headed to the recyclers.

    They made around 40,000 2000 GTV's and 38,000 1750 GTV's, so they are not rare. Good ones are rare but there are plenty of restorable cars still around, just like there are plenty of air cooled Porsches...The market is based on restoration costs being rather high no matter what the car is. I have a 1969 1750 GTV and think it is a great car but my Alfetta GTV6 is a lot more fun to drive partly do to the V6.

    Agreed the restor costs are high, but there aren't many left, I'd guess about 10%
    Have you tried to buy a cheap air cooled Porsche...

    I was a little off by a few thousand, but you get my point. They are not that rare. But neither are a lot of the muscle cars and air cooled Porsches people kept pushing prices up on.

    I'm not being critical but the classic car market is a different world now. The top end of the market has become part of the commodity market.
    Remember cars this will never be made again, simple nice to drive small, designer cars that were designed by the likes of Bertone.
    We all love our classics but so now do invest eras from all over the world. If the market keeps moving now at the lower end sorry guys but the "original, Professionally restored cars" will get snapped up and disappear.

    Remember a basic rule of supply and demand...

    When one comes on the market for big money, wealthy collectors are looking for these and other similar cars.
    If you were looking for reasonably prices excellent condition Classic car, have a look and see what you can buy you may get a surprise, not much.
    Another interesting that is happening is milage doesn't matter as much of older classics original condition does even over restored cars.

    Following the masses will get you burned sooner or later. Buy low sell high. The market is high for "classic cars" right now.

    And all my cars are perfect, but I am not selling them. I see restorable cars come up on the private market, but they will require full restorations wich will cost as much as the restored cars cost unless you use a cheap restoration company. That fact is helping push the cheaper classics up in value more than rarity,

    Ditto. In fact, I planned on buying a 105 this spring. When I started searching, I saw that it could be a dumb move. Mind you, I still might buy one. Sometimes you just need to do dumb things to have fun. But I don't think 105s are the buy there were a couple of years ago.

    Interesting discussion with a friend who is a team leader with a specialist motoring insurer,
    he is really surprised how much money is being spending on 2nd and 3rd teir cars and Alfa 105s are amoungts that and after the significant sale of $95,000AUD And the number of 45K UKP cars on the market who knows.
    A good example is a 1300 Junior lots of money spent and fitted with a 2lter asking 69k AUD

    I believe this to be true. However, the market for these cars has always seemed a bit too rich for me. For perspective, I purchased my 308 QV about 3 years ago, under $30K.

    Most of the solid Alfas I saw around that time approached the same number, and I know which car I'd pick (the 308).

    Of late, I find myself more interested in the Giulia sedans, but they are also getting up there.

    Forget a Fiat Dino - man, not that long ago they were attainable...not cheap, but not stratospheric!

    i have a 69 spica gtv too... unique and rare i'd say. bespoke injection pump, airbox, bumpers turn, grill signals, brakes, seats etc only for that one year. some say only 600 ever imported. 2.7 RS, 930 pretty common by comparisons
