Found a great home for a Panerai here, let's see if we can do the same for this Gibson. Absolutely perfect sunburst ES339. Bought it new, I just don't play it - been hanging on the wall in my smoke free office. If you're looking for a 335 vibe in a Les Paul body size (w double cutaway) with Custom shop build quality this might be your perfect guitar. Comes with original case and Gibson cert of authenticity. Street price on these is now $2800 (musicians friend) - I'm asking $2100 plus actual shipping cost. Happy to send pictures/answer any questions! Very nice acoustic - ironically, I played a similar style (Taylor 712e I think it was) last week and really liked it. I love the small bodies. Thanks, but I think I'll pass
Thanks, Tex, it just deserves to be loved and played by a new owner! Just hanging on the wall isn't fair to this guitar And...I would tell anyone reading this string that if you haven't played one of the small bodies like Noel's Martin - you just have to do so
I'll show these around... Adam Burchfield's birthday (The Octanes) was yesterday... We all got together at Dan Electro's.....Bert Wills was there, Adam's Dad sat in on bass...Gal Holliday wore sparkly holiday clothes.....
A few more pics - also a note that this is the '59 style neck (measures .92 at the 1st fret) vs the 30/60 or the slim taper found in almost all 339/335's unless you step up to the 59 Historic. I give up on rendering pics correctly around here Happy New Year! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
we don't autorotate, we post them exactly how they are native. if you want them posted correctly you need to upload them already aligned correctly. I suggest on your computer or phone rotate 90 degrees, save, rotate correctly, save, and then they will be aligned correctly.
Thanks, Rob, I'm sure it's all on my end (i.e. something else I'm not doing) but the images all "orient" correctly when I open the files on my machine. But, if I understand you, what I need to do is upload in the Fchat "manage images" and regardless of how the image may look on my machine, I need to rotate it so it appears correctly within the Fchat window. I'll try it again now. Thanks!
So, lets see if I can figure this out.... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
correct, many programs Windows Apple etc autorotate image correctly although the native file really isn't rotated correctly.
Update - a luthier buddy told me, despite it being the rarer 59 neck carve, I was nuts asking over $2K for this guitar. Also, for the life of me, I can't find the COA (little black book) - not sure if it even had one - just can't remember. So - Fchat price (plus actual shipping) is $1799
OK, I'll take it, bring it with you next time down here!! So, shipping is ZERO. Just a healthy bar tab... But don't let the airline smash it!! Jesse Dayton uses those coffin cases, but only when he's doing some Rob Zombie thing.....
For real? Seriously, do let me know. May be back down sooner than you think! Wish I could use the proceeds for a night out - but it's all going to a guy who's making me something "special" While I have you, you have to get over to the GC on Westheimer - awesome Murphy 335 "Red Dog" - it has "the" neck carve Funny you mention the coffin case - I still have one of those things
So, the guys in my office could not stand the mystery! While I was on site this week, (two of them are players) they opened the case at my desk. They were actually hoping to find a machine gun. They were impressed with it!! I told them: "No man, my machine gun is in the Fender gig bag!!" I really enjoyed your visit, thanks for dinner. I did my work this afternoon watching utubes of Eric Clapton, remembering J.J. Cale. I met Mr. Cale once, and you could not think of a more 'down to Earth" real nice guy...... Thanks again, Bill! I will call you next week.
Noel, My son went with a Les Paul he liked, so I am off to sell this guitar today....PM sent. Pictures do not do it justice, the wood is beautiful and there is not one scratch on it. If you still have any interest (or any other chatter!) I would think the buy offers I get at the Houston stores will be quite low, compared to the deal here. Thanks to wahowaa though, for offering it to me. Its been in the case ever since though. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
One shop was looking for the COA, and when I finally got to Guitar Center, they said as a Custom Shop production model, it probably did not have one! Everyone that touched it was very impressed! Fuller's Vintage Guitar offered $650. Rockin' Robin offered $800 Guitar Center took a TON of time researching the market, after an offhand comment "That will sell for $2K"... They came back and wrote a check for $1,350, which I cashed in an hour!!! It's at the Heights Houston location, for anyone looking on. Saw a great Austin musician last night, she could have punched out with it on some Western Swing! Sophie Johnson.... Nationwide reach and inventory gave them deeper pockets, I suppose. It is a very special guitar, thanks for letting me own it! SOLD!
Glad you found a buyer (that's the GC on Yale, right?) - GC is actually a great source for vintage gear, but some stuff is hugely overpriced and some under priced - years ago, when I looked all over for "the" perfect 50's LP it was a GC in Alabama in the end. It IS a great ES style guitar - just sorry it wasn't "the" perfect one for your boy.
