Would anyone happen to know the location or current ownership of Ferrari 333SP chassis 019? Last known owner was Charles Arnott in 1998 with a sale in 2003 according to barchetta. This is the Momo Daytona and Sebring winner. Edit: info is being requested for the Amelia Island Concours event.
JM owns 010, IIRC, and not 019. Not sure where it went after CA. EUR, perhaps. You might contact Bill Noon. He did a lot of work with CA, and 019 went in trade arranged by him on GTO s/n 3445. CW
I know that 019 was part of a 3 car package traded towards 3445GT which came from Matsuda but did Matsuda end up with 019? He already had 001.
Matsuda has reduced the cars in his collection somewhat. I don't believe 019 went to him (and 001 is LONG gone, too, to WJ and then RL). Although, it's certainly possible. Contact Noon. He would know. CW
I thought MCCormick owned the Daytona winner? Bill Wonder ended up with a 333 from Symbolic when he sold the GT40.
JM's 010 did not win Daytona. Several 1st OA finishes, but neither of the 36hrs of FL. BW's car did come from Symbolic in a trade (plus cash) for his original, raced GT40. Can't recall the s/n but it's not 019, either. Maybe 025? I'll check my records, though, as I may have the s/n. CW
My recollection was correct. BW has 025. The Ex-Lista "Fudd". Formerly the Judd-powered car which is now back to F power. CW
Actually, the info is being requested so that the car can be part of a past winners feature at the 50th anniversary celebration of the 24 Hours of Daytona. Tim Pendergast is in charge of that part of the 2012 Rolex 24 event as well as being the Director of Operations of the Amelia Island Concours.
I think a quick call to Noon could yield results for something as interesting and worthy. I'm disappointed that one of our cars didn't win the Daytona24. Won oodles of races, but not the 24. DNF'd. CW
Looks like it is being auctioned in Monterey by RM: 1998 Ferrari 333 SP | Monterey 2014 | RM AUCTIONS
In researching some 333-SPs lately, there used to be a handy 333-SP registry site but it doesn't seem to exist any longer. Too bad, because the information on it was well done and fairly current. It would seem people start up registry sites for all the right reasons but due to the time they take to keep up to date, they run out of gas. It might be suggested that F-Chat start a special section for racing Ferraris. It may prove handy as collectively contributors could keep information current. BHW
Have suggested that in the past. Went nowhere. Will be interested to see what 019 does on the block. Any guesstimates, yet? CW
great question. it's *the* 333SP to own, in my opinion. great provenance. given the current Ferrari climate, it could do very well....$3-5mm? last sale price I can find was $1.4mm for 015 at Monterey last year.
That is the prevailing general opinion on this tub. It won the 36H of FLA, so definitely one of the most successful. Other tubs have 1st OA finishes, but none have quite the same prestige factor. When CA sold it back in the 3445GT deal, it was, IIRC, valued at >$1MM. That represented a nearly 100% premium over other tubs at the time. Could it do nearly $3MM? In today's environment, I think it could possibly. Who knows, though? Really need the right buyer in the audience (or on the phone) at that level, I think. CW
Yeah, some of my images are on Barchetta.cc! I was referring to a site dedicated to 333-SP, think it was called the333sp.com or something like that. It was in the mode of the Ford GT40 site gt40.net. BHW
Ah 019...! Driving it two days in a row at the Cavallino Classic 1999 one year after its Daytona win...one of my best ever memories, my GF that 2nd evening laughed that I could not stop smiling Many thanks again to C.A. and the infamous Bill Noon for making it possible. See my 10 page article in Cavallino #111 June/July 1999, cover and 1st page here as sneak preview. I hope the next owner drives it. RIP Mr. Moretti. We traded notes after the Daytona win, I congratulating him, and he responded via FAX. Class guy... I also had a proposal in hand, to open MoKarts in Houston. I passed, and now there's two or three tracks in town using the concept.
