Umm what the heck is going on with either the website or the events info? I am/was hoping to attend these two series that fall on the same weekend but all I get from COTA's website is "Event Details coming soon"?!?! I was under the impression that these events were already set and ready to go?

I've wondered the same thing for a while. I really want to make this weekend, last time we might see proper P1 cars in the US for a long time (depending on whether or not WEC continues to come to the US).

I already have a plane ticket to Austin for that weekend, but if the races don't happen I'll just go hang out at my sister's place.

but F1 tix have been available for a long time....

maybe it's just a promoter deal (FIA/ACO/IMSA cluster****), but tickets should have been available by now, I'd think.

    that's her birthday weekend

trust me, I'd rather hang out in Austin and get hammered while listening to some alt country or whatnot.

I called COTA and was told that ALMS hasn't authorized the sale of any tickets yet, and the dates for the ALMS/WEC event are still confirmed. Then I called the ALMS office - no return call from them yet.

Something seems amiss. Just for reference, Road America needed money to reserve camping spots for all their events before Christmas. Admission was included.

Well, this is interesting......... I just got off the phone with the ALMS office and they agreed with me that the venues themselves sell the tickets, not ALMS and were quite surprised with what I was told. So, they will be contacting COTA to figure this out and I'll be receiving another call from them with an update.
I plan on being down there regardless as a worker, but this is silly trying to chase down tickets

Fastest callback I've ever gotten... and with positive results
My ALMS contact spoke to a COTA rep and packages for this event can be done by calling 866-801-6975.
The link from the ALMS site isn't updated for whatever reason and as far as what I was told by the receptionist yesterday has a few of us frazzled still.

Typical COTA. They're notoriously slow getting info out for events...and when it does come, it does so in a trickle rather than a torrent.

You can sign up for COTA WEC/ALMS ticket alerts here... http://www.circuitoftheamericas.com/email/updates/ ...but if it's anything like it was for Grand Am & the V8s, tickets will be easy. They gave away boatloads of 'em for V8s & still didn't draw anything like the 68K weekend attendance they're claiming. Also, be sure you don't buy early. For both MotoGP & V8s they lowered prices & offered special deals the final 2 weeks before the race, pissing off a lot of folks who paid much more for less.

Be advised, this past weekend at COTA was brutally hot and there was little to no shade to be found. The high temp was around 95 all three days. The V8SC series is already saying they'd like an earlier date and are looking at ways to reduce heat stress on the drivers here.

Sep weather here is very similar to May weather, but the avg high temp is actually 2 or 3 degrees higher. Take a beach hat or something. It makes all the difference in the world.

What's the humidity like? Where I live I am accustom to summers of frequent high 90s/low 100s but it is very dry.

66% avg on Saturday. More humid than usual for our area.

It was hotter & more humid than usual, but even at typical temps (near 90), there were going to be problems. The real problem this weekend wasn't so much the added heat, imho, as they utter inablility to find shelter/shade from the sun. Trees and/or shades are needed. Lots of 'em.

They rarely respond to tweets, facebook inquiries, or frankly any other kind of questions.

Getting info from them has always been like pulling teeth. They make it hard for fans to buy their product, not easy.

You won't be camping on COTA...they don't like the holes the stakes leave......

Think he's referring to tent stakes.

Unless you mean "camping" by using a camper trailer or motorhome.
