Here are some tech session photos from yesterday. Road America is wall to wall trailers, and the track has a large paddock. Some very interesting cars on site. The DP guys were all saying they know how slow their cars are compared to the LMP cars. I hope we get away from DP type cars completely but no one seems to know what will happen about the rules and classes in detail, or atleast they are not saying yet. I do like the Grand Am GT classes. The Mazda 6 seemed to be in the wrong class and looked out of place as the car is so big compared to even the BMW's. ALMS are puting on a class act as usual this weekend.

I would like DP to stay a separate class, maybe a cross between ALMS LMP2 and GT or be replaced and merged with the new LMP2. GA DP needs to enter the 21st century and design new technology, not use NASCAR/1980 GTP technology. Those DP cars look like the old 1980's IMSA cars in to many ways. This should not be a spec car drivers championship, and ALMS/Lemans should not ballast/slow down the better cars as much as they do(although that is open for debate). What do people seem to notice the most in the pits?? The Delta wing and GT real sportscars. .

Next year they will have a new Deltawing with closed cockpit. The Lotus Evora program is done and the cars are back in England. The new ALMS BMW is having alot of Aero problems. Nice looking race car, but a little off the pace right now. New Viper GT3 shown.

By the way, Risa wanted to come and do a few laps at Road America during the Ferrari Club 50th last weekend but were told to pack up and go to the hotel!!

    Great pics!

Next year will be very interesting and to echo Mr Atherton's sentiments in having 1 chance to do this right the first time for 2014.

I wonder what the times would be if they put the same engines in a LMP1 and DP and ran them. I know the LMP1 are running 8-9 seconds faster a lap right now. LMP2 are only 2-3 seconds faster based on the best cars times.

They may as well since they're now throwing full course, multi-lap cautions when
cars spin off course or have mechanical problems, etc. Since when did IMSA start
    doing this?

It wasn't that long ago, there were things called "Local Yellows" which kept the racing
alive and didn't interrupt the flow of the race as in F-1.

How is it in F-1 they can have a stranded car out of harm's way in 30 seconds but
in the U.S., it takes them ten minutes to get a car loaded onto a flatbed?

With Daytonner calling the shots next year, we'll be seeing "GWC", guaranteed.
