Well, the season is going to be starting soon. Time for our thread about it. Nascar's actions at Richmond last season created a black hole for me, Aside from someone mentioning in a F1 thread that Jr finished 5th, I really don't know what went on. I took a look at their new website today, seems to not be much better than last years, I guess the days of simple easy to load websites are over. I did notice they are changing the qualifying format. I think it allows more variance and more "ifs", as you've got to plan on where other cars are to get a good time in. I did like watching qualifying at Charlotte in person under the old format. It was also interesting using high power bincoculars to watch when some one posted the fastest time, crews re'watching the vid to see what the driver did before going out. Its going to make qualifying at a plate track less of a snooze fest as driver's will likely be drafting to get the best times they can. I'd like to go to Darlington this year, any advice on seating?
Could NASCAR?s Chase proposal keep Jimmie Johnson from winning again? - NASCAR - Sporting News the gimmicks continue. I'll probably go to the Daytona 500 this year, but doubt I'll pay much attention beyond that.
Any changes to the car's for this year? I noticed a lot of design focus on last year's car was for the plate track racing - making it harder to handle when up on another car's bumper. Problem is - this hurts the racing elsewhere as the car's handling and cornering speed go to the crapper when racing close. Kinda goes against what nascar said about "drivers need to go flat out", as throughout most stages of the race, driver's will just give the passing driver the room to get it over quickly so as to not lose overall track position from 10-15MHP slower side by laps. The closing speed of Kyle Busch on Joey and Denny was massive in the race that put Denny's season on hold. Driver's tend to give a little more space and let it go at Darlington, so the new car won't have as much negative effect their, which puts it on the top of my list to go see this year. A real Gimmick I'd like to see, is put some hairpin turns on the back stretch of Talledega - its wide enough down there to put some extra curves in.
oy vey. guess I'll be watching a lot of baseball on Sunday afternoons this year... Expansion, eliminations highlight Chase format changes | NASCAR.com
What a complete waste of time. They're going to reset the points for the top four drivers and the person that finishes the best at Miami wins is the champion.
between g/w/c and this, I don't know why they don't just condense the NASCAR season to a one-night TV spectacular on FOX.
It's too saturated with adverts. I think if they shortened the race and limited the adverts they could create better races.
Wow, ended up not bothering to read it after a bit. Crikey. I may follow the regular season, then tune out once this new system kicks in. As far as I'll care, regular points season leader will win. ^^
Maybe you guys would do another Fantasy League this season, but I can understand why you don't, since I have won every one we have ever had here. For 2013 you guys all weenied out, we didn't have one here, I joined one elsewhere and won that one also. AND, I don't really pay that close of attention to it - most of my lineups I make out two months in advance, and don't pay much attention after I do that, so no, I don't micromanage or put anything under a microscope.
they say Toyota will stand a good chance to win it all this year... ...they may stand a chance but to my knowledge Toyota is a Japanese brand ...need I say more?
sad that the Pettys can only make headlines when bashing Danica NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty says Danica Patrick will never win a Sprint Cup race - ESPN
she was "having fun" and "learning a lot"...lol whatever. must be nice to be learning for I don't know how many seasons it has been and to be getting paid big money. oh gawd...2014 nascar season has begun.
