    ha! cute :)

most of the race was good, ending was a bit disappointing. can't wait until BoP stops clearly favoring the ProtoTurtles. which is probably wishful thinking.

Watkins Glen is such a great track! need to get there someday...

Looks like a great time! Thanks for sharing the pics.
The Glen is very high on my to-do list. Should I go for the vintage or for IMSA if I want to camp out?

Depends on a few things; first, it's a great camping area for either event. But this race is late June, so its hot. (middle,of the state); and more crowded. The vintage event is September, so the weather is usually absolutely perfect. The vintage event has a lot of events that start in the town and work their way up to the track (a few miles). Less crowded, but beautiful cars. Everything from old Shelby Mustangs to classic F1 cars everywhere....
So it depends on what you want to see & do...
You will enjoy it either way

Having been to Watkins Glen a couple of times when I lived in the City, the weather
there is ever changing be ready for anything.

The first time I attended an IMSA GTP event there in 1990, the day started out beautifully,
got warm, then rain came from literally no where, got cold, cleared out, got sunny and warm
again, rained again, got cold, repeat as necessary.

Things were more stable in the fall for an IMSA GTO/GTU event but was still quite chilly
    in the early morning.

It looked like a great day there yesterday, ya'll got lucky!

Was a bit surprised at the poor turnout. I mean, an entire grandstand practically to myself? Great track and locale, but not sure if I would do this event again.

I think their new policy is, if you're involved in contact and continue (don't spin, don't crash, don't have to pit for repairs) you get a penalty based in the severity of damage to the other car, regardless of whose fault it was. weird, but I guess it helps prevent contact...

I enjoy watching it, its a shame the Tudor series doesn't get as much recognition as other races. The grandstands were empty, but there were a lot of campers there. Seems every year less and less people watch motorsports.

    And to quote-"Rubbin's Racin"

I went a few years ago when it was a Grand Am event. The stands were pretty empty, but a decent amount of people around the course. One of the nice things about the even was that it wasn't super crowded, so you could easily go to different parts of the track and have a decent view of the action.

I've found that at sports-car races, grandstands get very little usage. (Have you ever noticed how empty the stands are, even at start-finish, at the Rolex 24?) Some tracks don't even have stands; Road Atlanta has terraced seating on the hillsides at turn 10, and that's about it. It doesn't mean that the event is poorly attended.

When I used to go to Watkins Glen, for the Grands Prix back in the '70s and for vintage events more recently, I'd take a motel room in the Elmira, Corning or Ithaca areas. Rooms were quite affordable and there were ample nearby dining options, and the drives to the track were reasonably short. On one occasion I stayed at the famous Glen Motor Inn (where the action was in the G.P. days!) and enjoyed it a lot.

Unfortunately, I can see from the telecasts that many of my favorite old viewing locations are now blocked by enormous safety fences, but I guess that's the price of progress.

exactly; the grounds are hundreds of acres; sports-car races tend to get alot of camping/great viewing areas. Very few sit in the grandstands (which unfortunately doesnt look good on TV)

Learn something new every day. I've actually thought about renting a camper for the weekend and trying that whole aspect. It seems it would be nice having my own bathroom at the racetrack.

Jeepers those PC cars are fast. At VIR they will be running with us (Lites) which will be quite interesting.
