I like NASCAR's road to recovery program; something similar should be tried here IMO.

Hello, for life is way to harsh. I can see for a period of time with testing for verification. I can understand Mario being upset as he was lied to and letdown.

As in the NFL there is no real set of rules, which seem to get overturned anyway.

This may bring about a system in Racing that will really address the problems of drug abuse, but lets get real its been going on for a long time. Im sure Pot and cocaine where the drug of choice along with booze in the 60s and 70s.

No way. A longish suspension is adequate punishment, with a ban maybe for repeat offenses.

It sort of leads you down the road of thinking Mario is saying that Frank actually used cocaine WHILE ON TRACK. Was that proven out? And if it also happened during his F1 days, I'm VERY surprised this took this long to come out in the public.

Fine + 3/6 month ban, drug testing at every race for the next 3 years at his cost = problem solved.

I believe given the timing of the test the assumption was that he had the drug in his system during an actual race. Can't remember where I read/heard this but I believe he was tested right after he got out of the car in Malaysia.

If he had tested positive in the offseason or not during an event, then long suspension/treatment. If indeed he did race high then he put everyone else at risk and that does warrant a lifetime ban.

If he supposedly raced under the influence, did it show up in his driving that day? That factor should be considered.

High on track is very very serious, off track....not so much but still requires some action.

At 37, I think his racing career is finished anyhow.
Which team, which sponsor is going to employ him in the foreseable future, whatever the suspension is?
If it's a life ban, it's all over.

I sort of miss the good old days of F1. Smoke some pot, a little champagne, a line of coke, then jump in the car. After you won you party with strippers. :)

Endangering the other racers by competing under the effects of psychotropic substances is unforgivable. No tolerance, ban him for life.

    All the best,
    Andrew.
