After 1st practice at St. Pete, Marco Andretti is P1 and Hondas claim 8 of the top 10 spots. Interesting ...

Very interesting. Sandbagging? Marco really make a mental breakthrough?

I've been watching it all off and on - have friends racing in USF and Pro Mazda. Hilarious that the new USF car is almost as fast as the Pro Mazda. I think pole in USF would have been P4 in Pro Mazda.

Wow. I remember in about 1967 when Jacky Ickx qualified around 8th for the German GP at the 'Ring. And he was driving a Formula 3 car!

That race was excellent! Megennis with great defense. Askew is the real deal. Should be an awesome season.

Agree - aggression to increase for race 2 ; )

Sato had a hilariously amateur crash yesterday. Never disappoints.

    I bet both.

Although man - watch the in-car of Dixon. He is milking that wheel non stop. He is fast, but he is working for it and has that thing on the edge the whole lap. Awesome stuff.

This kid Oliver Askew is going to the top. Got to the front and left the field - crazy. Especially for a rookie.

    Sato comes 5th. LOL!

What's up with Daly? Dead last and slow all weekend. (edit: Actually Bourdais last bc of crash)

Only 2 Chevy's in top 10. More Hondas in series though. Race setup will be totally different though, so we'll see. Should be a great race.

Sato is fast when not crashing :p

not sure what Daly's problem is. lots of normally quick guys at the back after qualifying for various reasons. will be a good race, chance of rain :)

So who got paid on the PFC brakes? LOL

Ryan Hunter-Reay eats 3 tire barriers in practice this morning.

    Pigot's rear corner just exploded.

    WTF Indycar.

Awesome drive from Bourdais. Coyne still the master of strategy.

    great race by Bourdais/Coyne/Honda.

    Penske, not so much.

bummed for Graham Rahal, he seems to have the worst luck.

Dale Coyne is the Richard Childress of Indycar racing - a much better team owner than he was a driver!

And in honor of the winning team's sponsor, I think I'll eat at Sonny's BBQ tonight.

Greetings from St. Pete! First INDYCAR race - they put on a good show. Thought the support series are much more entertaining than INDYCAR. Indy lights and F2000 were great to watch. Pro Mazda field looked light though.

IndyCar street races are great atmospheres (typically). not always the best racing but a great event.

F2000 is going to be excellent this year.

btw, complimentary article about INDYCAR in The NY Times this week. been a while since that's happened...
