Seeing random pics and info all around the forum but did not see a dedicated thread to it so thought I'd start one.

I'm a big Porsche fan so I'm looking forward to this car. Can't wait to start seeing it in dif colors/angles.......

Looks like its coming out of the top deck lid now.....If that is exhaust though and not some kind of cooling fan duct I also like this possibly even more than the old side dump.....

I like where they put the exhaust. I wonder if it will be beneficial to the down force in the rear of the car.

I like it too. Can't wait to see good interior shots and some normal paint jobs on it.

The design is starting to grow on me...However Ferrari's new LaFerrari is quite spectacular

Great rear angle photo. I wish the 918 would be closer to the 911 price range, but given the technology involved I understand why it's not.

The 918 is a much more timeless design, IMHO -- fender curves like a 275 GTB or Dino. I think the LaFerrari is an overwrought mess.

Ferrari should be hiring the teams that did the 918 and 981 to get its cars back on track aesthetically.

I'm looking forward to seeing the 4 wheel steering in action. I wonder if it'll be similar to the system on the GT3?

There's a LOT of 904 in the 918, and in the Dino 206/246. Butzi Porsche may have been the most important sports car designer of the last century.

I think the 918 will look phenomenal in dark blue, but probably stunning in Gulf blue, guards red or anything else you can think of.

I have ordered a 918 and asked Porsche about getting it in the Gulf heritage, however it is copyrighted so Porsche cant use it for the car. In terms of seeing it in paint, the car looks much better in the dark blue than the gulf blue alone (without the orange). It also looks phenomenal in gray, which at the moment, is the most chosen color for customers. The car looks awful in the yellow and red paint color they offer.

Am I the only person that's not a fan of the Martini stickers?

I think it's fine for maybe 1 press car... but I've never seen a 918 (other than the concept with clear wheels) with a normal paint-job.

I've always been told to let the engine warm up. But I'm watching all the vids about the 918 and they say it starts in electric only mode. As soon as you punch the accelerator, the gas engine kicks in. And they say it's seamless. So what ever happened to the warm up period? On an engine as finely tuned as the one in the 918...how do they do it?

Or are we looking at more frequent engine service schedules?

The number of people who allow time for a modern Porsche engine to "warm up" before driving, worldwide, is 7. :)

Joking aside, I highly doubt it needs a warm up cycle before engaging the accelerator. Modern engines really just don't need it, especially Porsche engines. Turn the key and go.
