This is what the Cayenne should have looked like from the start. I like it a lot. Furthermore, it will bring the money to develop more great 911s.
I have talked to my dealer. Too bad no stick even on the Macan S. how about developing a 400 hp turbo in mid-engine Boxster S/Cayman S. That would be fantastic.
I like it. Taillights are much better looking that the current Cayenne.. would be nice if they extend that to Cayenne. They'll sell a ton of them.
Love it! I believe that it is more beautiful than Cayenne and yes, i believe that it will affect the current Cayenne's price. It is very beautiful, especially the rear '3D' lights and the 911 lines in the front part of the car.
Macan is built on the Audi Q5 chassis. I am driving a Q5 and a QS5 next tuesday to get a feel for the size of the car and the Stronic transmission. Not the Porsche PDK but should be interesting to compare. Am driving an Audi S4 and a Panamera 4S, Cayenne with a stick and tiptronic, a new Cayman and F Type Jaguar. Hope the roads are clear and I can take the 458 or Boxster S. 0% chance of precip Mon-Wed.

With the options I want: Macan Turbo 0-60 w sport chrono 4.4s $90,035 Macan S 0-60 w sport chrono 5.0s $79,435 Audi SQ5 0-60 5.1s $61,900 Audi is $17,535 less and built on same chassis. Is the Macan worth $17,535 more? Driving SQ5 Tuesday.
For $90k I'd buy a Cayenne... Turbo is over-rated. Money is better spent on more car rather than more engine.
I was at the LA Auto Show unveiling, and got to crawl through both the S and the Turbo. Some thoughts--jewel like assembly. Way too many buttons (and I am a button fan). Small. The debut blue color was great. But it seems at least 10K above market, even factoring in that it is a Porsche.
Only the turbo is overpriced. That is in Cayenne territory. I'm surprised they even offered it. Take the Boxster/Cayman... there is no 'turbo' option because it would be $100k+ in 911 territory.
Too small, overpriced etc doesn't matter, they will sell loads and attract new buyers. Personally I would rather liked to see a shrinked Panamera, a 5-series/Tesla S competitor. Todays Panamera is too big for European roads.
I read that in 2014 Cayenne's will (also?) be built in China. As you know, China is their major market for Cayennes, and think Pana's.
Drove a Cayenne Turbo today. had air suspension. the ride was great. the tiptronic transmission was dreadfully slow. the buttons are confusing when one is used to the Ferrari DCT. Also drove a Panamera Turbo today with air suspension. the ride was horrible and bumpy. the PDK transmission was slow and awkward, but the same layout as the Ferrari DCT. this surpirised me because when I bought my 2011 Boxster S, the PDK seemed crisp and much much better than the old tipronic system. but the layout was confusing so we got the 6 spd manual. Also drove an Audi SQ5 which os the platform of the Macan. The DCT was more responsive than the Cayenne and the Panamara. the ride was better than the Panamera but not the Cayenne. 354 bhp. 0-60 = 5.1 sec. Not bad for a 4409 lb SUV. Does not look like the Macan S is going to be worth the $17k+ upcharge unless they make some radical changes from their current models. the Turbo numbers are worse at $30k more. I will not buy one w/o driving it first.

Dealer rep called today. they have taken 4 deposits on the S. None on the Turbo. Wants to know if I want the first turbo. Said they expect to get one a month starting in April or May.
Read that Porsche will become an SUV company with the Macan...they will sell more SUVs than sports cars. Even the Panamera is selling well. Wonder how Macan sales will fare when people figure out that the Macan S has the same chassis as the Audi SQ5. 0-60 is 0.1 sec faster at 5.0 vs SQ5. NA engine has 340 hp while supercharged SQ5 has 354. going thru the configurators equiped the way I would want, Macan is more expensive at $74,435 vs $61,900 for the SQ5. Why is the Porsche worth $12k+ more?
I don't see it being much different than the original Cayenne V6 vs. Touareg V6. There was very little difference mechanically, but the Cayennes still sold well enough.
