For the last year of the short wheelbase (SWB) 'A' series 911, Porsche offered a new model to the US, the 911L. It was, in essence, identical to the 911S introduced in Europe the year before, but with the 130bhp 'O' series engine from the original 911, as the 160bhp engine in the 911S did not meet US emission requirements. It did however, retain all of the other 911S upgrades and amenities like dual-circuit, ventilated disc brakes, as well as the new range-wide recessed button door handles, aluminium dash, black steering wheel, black-faced gauges and black wipers. They were the most expensive and luxuriously appointed Porsches ever offered in the US, up to that point and with a production run of less than 450, amongst the rarest ever built.

Offered here is probably the finest example available anywhere in the world. The Irish Green paint is completely original, as it came from the factory and has never been repainted (with the exception of the right front fender, which was repainted in 1974) and though it has a peppering of small stone chips along the leading edge of the bonnet, it is lustrous and virtually unmarked elsewhere. The shutlines are exemplary and there is no rust anywhere. The interior is similarly well preserved with the original and yet crack-free dash, near perfect original leather and practically unworn original carpet and headliner. Mechanically, it is equally blessed. Its original, matching numbers engine was rebuilt less than 3,000 miles ago and has perfect compression, 1% leakdown and no oil leaks. With essentially just two owners from new (the last significant change of ownership occurred in 1975), it has just under 78,000 original miles. Furthermore, it comes complete with full supporting documentation and its original books & tools. CoA with optional Equipment: Headrests Leatherette and a very rare Limited Slip Differential.

The unparalleled originality of this car cannot be overemphasized. This is a truly unique opportunity to own the benchmark example of an early 911. Due to its incredible originality and state of preservation, this is the Porsche by which all others can be judged, literally.
