henry...I found this chart from Covercraft to be very useful. Car Cover Fabrics Comparison Chart - Covercraft In the end, I went for Evolution Block-it as it was best for ding protection among the Outdoor covers, since my 911 lives outside 24/7/365. The Evolution Block-it cover is thicker than most I have seen, and has done a good job against everything except golf/baseball sized hail, but nothing I have seen is gonna help that….T
Ok as a disclamer i have skin in the game here. i work for the company which makes car cover material for the converters. i don't work in that division but am very familiar with the products and have been invited to a couple innovation sessions on car covers. I have 4 different car covers / materials. I purchased 3 covers but was given a promotional /cheap cover. If I were to purchased another car cover for indoor use, i would buy one with the bloc it 380 fabric. I would not get a form fitting cover but a general cover. in my option, the form fitting covers have a tendency to skim more across the car than general more loose fitting cover when putting it on and taking it off, which could potently scratch the car easier. the loose find covers work just fine in the garage as there is no wind to flap it around. before i put any car cover back on, I dust off the car to help provent any scratching.
I have ordered 10-12 indoor covers from California car cover over the years. The heavy flannel material is really great, thick enough to protect against minor bumps. BTW they make a very thin exterior nylon cover that was expensive but I'd never get again; have repaired it twice now with ripstop tape after it snagged on semi-sharp edges...
we have a guy who rents climate controlled space here in town to multiple high end clients, basically, he only uses the california car covers....i ve never tried them though
