Thanks all. I noticed in my quick drive last night:

It felt VERY light, nimble, and responsive as opposed to the GT3 which feels a bit heavier, but very planted.

Comfortable with the standard seats. (car was optioned for performance and weight reduction)

    Nice exhaust note

The 6MT is as good as everyone says it is and more.

Sure, it is lacking some oomph in straight line acceleration, but keep the revs up properly in the twisty bits and it is about as good as anything.

Still have the DP! I doubt it will ever leave. ;)

Rennlist has a GT4 section with a thread about that. The editor of Evo has join in that thread discussing the choice and whole process.

    I am, but...

As a disclaimer, it is in the barn with the McLaren, GT3, and DP cabriolet. If it were my only Pcar I would be exstatic. I have really wanted to like this car, especially with all the press it has recieved. It is a fun car to drive, handles great, and the 6 speed is sublime. However, it is a bit anemic and it seems that whatever the GT4 does, the GT3 does better. I find myself wanting to drive the other cars more.

So.... I am trading it on a new Targa GTS 4.

    fun platform...

which engine are they quoting... the std "S" is shown with 3.0L while the Targa 4 GTS is (still) shown with 3.8 L at 430hp ( with power kit ) ( is the Porsche site up to date or subject to revision )

The GTS for 2016 is still the 3.8L n.a. 430 HP S engine.

I suspect the "S" quoted on the website is the new 3.0L turbo that will be in the 991.2. My dealer is already getting allocation spots for the 991.2. Builds to begin in a few months. My Targa is likely one of the last NA standard 911s made

same at my dealer... if you want a real kick in the grass, ask about getting the 4.0 from the GT3... (they will do it if you ask real nice, kind of like the other special order requests )

Um only thing I don't get is that Targa 4S is like 400 lbs heavier than GT4 with only 10% more power, if that much. Suspect that if the GT4 "feels" slowish than Targa 4S will feel even more so....Or is it more you want the open top thing more for cruising - then it makes sense.

    Either way both nice cars...

the Targa is bought for the extra enjoyment that removing the "lid" brings as a GT cruiser,
there are plenty of better choices for shaving lap times at the track... add the generation ending 4.0L "big block" with its' extra normally aspirated grunt and chorus that the new generation of smaller block turbo are not able to duplicate

still waiting for the release of the GT4 cup cars, getting too close for a quality prep for the Daytona 24

GT 4 left yesterday for the dealership. If anyone is interested in a nicely optioned, perfect condition example, call Adam Brooks @ Porsche Omaha.

One of the things I noticed in press reviews is the exceptionally tall gearing they gave the GT4. This may account for the comments about anemic acceleration I've heard from some owners. Did Porsche do this to keep the acceleration times slower than 911s? Nah!

    No doubt!

It would be a bit quicker with better gearing, but torque and hp does not really come on until about 4000 rpm or higher.

Pre-congrats on the Targa. Apart from a 918 Spyder, I think that would be my first pick of the current Porsche road cars. Stunning car.
