Porsche is introducing a model 718 in the Boxster... 4 cylinder turbo motors 2.0 and 2.5 L at 295 and 344 hp respectively... I guess will need and an abacus to keep up :=)
For those looking for a laugh, a summary of Porsche's new naming convention inspired by the 718 Boxster Porsche presents new naming policy « Sniff Petrol
I don't understand the name change at all. The build and price is up on the Porsche website. Base model starts at $54K, S model at $65K I think. As an aside, scrolling through their models is hilarious.. I can't understand why there are 20 variants of each model. I also don't understand how a 911 Turbo S is more expensive than a GT3 RS, or how there can be a Panamera with a $200K+ base price.
I basically gave up on figuring out all the modern porsche models a few years back. I know I like the GT4 cayman (stick!), the boxster spider and wouldn't mind picking up a nice cayenne again someday for the family More than anything, I'd rather have a bunch of the older porsches (a G50 911, 930, 928S4...I guess I'm just stuck in the past)
+356 (Although all Caymans, Boxsters and regular production 911s have always been offered a three-pedal manual. Not many get ordered, but they are available at a lower cost than PDK.)
it's so you can have it your way...the brand is willing to accommodate special orders a GT3 car is a stripper.... a lot of content to conform with the class rules is removed, the turbo S has a lot of sophisticated expensive controls and other content disallowed or not wanted for tracking and race rules...
718 S Boxster configurator shows no sports exhaust option. I would think a 4 cyl turbo would need all the help it can get. Sad

I fell better now. Thanks. In the configurator there is an icon for sound. Pretty darn good with some burbles and pops. And the car weighs just under 3000 lbs with 350 turbo hp which would be great at 8000 ft. Best.
