    so i came across a very interesting car, this 924 GTR - one of 17 according to the listing. also it's essentially new (which i suppose is rare, considering it appears to be a full on race car)... i don't know much about these cars / market, but as a big porsche fan i was wondering if anyone would fill in the blanks? surprised to see this very cool car and curious to know what the deal is. what do these go for? what's the deal (beyond the listing info of course)? love it. here's the listing;

    I think an F-Chatter has one of these, same gentleman that owns the Lancia 037.

    upside: effectively brand new

    downside: no racing pedigree

    the Drendel Collection 924 GTR went for $375k a few years ago, before the Porsche scene totally blew up. my guess is this car will go for somewhere in the $400k range.

    Id say its valuable as a collectable and piece of Porsche history. But drive it and you ruin the value. Buy it if you want a interesting concour or museum display. If you want a collectable that can be lightly tracked. Id go for something like this:

    https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/porsche/944/1986/382378

    A little less rare. But more fun to drive, at least that would be my bet. As the 944 cup is just as light with more HP and a more updated suspension and brakes.

    My friend owned a dealership in downtown Toronto and bought a warehouse about 30 miles away in the suburbs. He often talked me into driving his cars around. He had a customer with a few cars stored in his warehouse. Including a later year cup car. I ended up almost buying the cup car. Just an awesome car. Fast, handled well. It was kind of a sleeper because it looked like a stock 951. At the time you could get a turbo S under $20k, basically the same engine. Decided the $8k premium wasn't worth it. Kicked my self ever since.

    I believe he has 924 gts clubsport and loves it. This is a GTR so a whole different level. No racing pedigree but otherwise the ultimate 924...

    Yes, you may be right - I know he had a rare 924, but wasn't sure which model.

    That's me! But I own a gts club sport, 15 made-not quite as mental as the gtr-100 hp less-270 vs 370, but still an amazing thing

    We purchased one of these(LeMans version) from Porsche in the initial offering for homologation and had the first one in the USA.
    Fun little car to play around with as we waited for delivery of our factory 962.

    Well you can't say it has no racing pedigree, as a GTR won best in class in LeMans in 1982.... They also participated in the GTP in 1980 and did exceptionally well. So although they are not 911's, you definitely can't say No racing pedigree as these were built as hardcore racers.

    I misspoke! What I meant was that this particular car has no racing history. The 924 GTR program as a whole has certainly had great success...
