There is one for sale near me for $81K asking and its a 2001 and 1 of 17 made. Seems like a no brainer classic? Why are these cars so cheap, how much were they originally? Im trying to gather some info on it

    The long way home
    That does sound cheap.

Make sure it is a proper, RUF-vin'd car and not a conversion.

I think the price is legit. RAC Performance in Dallas was selling the car for $75,900 in June 2012 so I think the current price is in line with the previous asking price. Perhaps the, let's say unique, color scheme of this car hurts its resale value a bit.

I agree. It doesn't scream Ruf when I see it and I'm not fond of its style nor color. And I drive a metallic orange/copper colored car lol!

Just noticed this thread, cool to see some RUF discussion...

This car is now with my friend David Cashion at Shift Bespoke Automotive, wish I could buy it myself. :)

I love odd color combos but I must say that is one very off-putting interior.

I believe there is another one for sale here in the mid-Atlantic, speed-yellow/black, authentic Ruf car w/upgrades.

If anyone is interested please PM and I'll get you in contact with the owner.

It looks like these were similar to a GT3 before the US Gt3 made it to market in 2004?

Yeah, the specs do seem to closely resemble those of the period GT3s. Ruf lists the car's H.P. at 385 which is right in line with the 996 GT3 figures. It looks like the car uses a 3.6 L Mezger based engine and not the 3.4L M96 engine that came in the MKI 996s.

The car is for sale on eBay right now at a BIN price of $85,000 (owner is also taking offers). 2001 Porsche 911 | eBay

This car really intrigues me. I'd love to get more technical info on the MKI version of the 996 Ruf RGT. A quick search doesn't turn up too much reliable info. I'd like to know more about the engine and suspension upgrades that Ruf made to the car.

Kudos to whoever buys that Ronald McDonald interior rust orange RGT. It's so ugly only a mother could love it. It's not worth anywhere near that asking price. You would be much better off buying a stock 996 GT3 for less than that asking price.

I'm a huge RUF fan but that just isn't the right car.
