yesterday I was driving my virtually new 2016 911TTS got on the interstate with lots of traffic had to slam on the brakes at high speed maybe 70mph AND both headlights came flying out of the car.. reminded me of the cartoon with the eyeballs popping out . I pull over to the side of the road and sure enough both headlights are dangling by wires on the front bumper . I picked them up and popped them back in ...
Strangest thing.. they just popped back in .

There is a locking nut or cam that secures each headlight in place. Perhaps those never got tightened.

That's funny, not haha funny. That could have been serious. As a Porsche owner, I would hope for a much better build quality for such a new 911. I'd be pissing & moaning a blue streak with the dealer...T

yep, pretty easy to remove the whole headlight bucket.

did you have a clear bra or other detailing service done recently?

no clear bra or detail, thats the first thing Porsche suggested but its a relatively new car (6months ) and had never even been serviced.I have no idea why it came lose it did scratch the bumper a little which they agreed to take care of but not sure if I want them to.. The lucky thing is the wires are pretty strong and held them in place till I could pull over .... had they come lose from the wire it would have been Major damage as I would have ran them over.....
I was pissed but can't help but laugh ..
now had it been the taillights from accelerating to hard ....
I have owned every kind of car imaginable from an old POS pinto back in college days and have had everything from wheels falling to main bearing failure from clogged oil passage in a 66 gt 350 Shelby but never had the headlights fly out from stopping to fast...

I would be unhappy about the situation but I can definitely see the humor in the visual. I'm glad it turned out ok!

Unfortunate but funny story for you to retell over the years. I am going to go check mine as a precaution. Mine is 7 months new and I did have clear bra installed.

I bought my last pbug when my front winshield came unglued on a roadtrip. Smokin hot black over red leather interior with duct tape holdind the windshield in. I was very impressed with build quality. Hey only the Italian cars can get away with that...

Is this a new feature to help keep you from out-driving your headlamp beams?

In jest.....glad it was without serious consequence and can be joked about.

Since both popped out at the same time, and car hasn't been touched by detailer or clear bra installer, most likely it was an oversight at time of manufacturing. Glad you and car are OK, and Porsche has stepped up.
