Gilles and the infamous local Mondial, which he called "a lemon". At least, so said the Montreal dealer when Gilles returned the car to him. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Villeneuve (and Lauda) are pretty much the reason I love Ferrari so much. As a kid, I would watch the few F1 races they would show on TV, and he was incredible (and of course, my grandparents being immigrants from Italy, there was the country pride). One of my early racing heroes. Jacques (his son) is my doppleganger - when I was in Montreal, so many people would look at me and say "JACQUES!", it was funny. His words about connecting with his father when he drove his car were really touching and poignant.
And yet, when Jacques raced, he loathed when his father was brought up in interviews and conversations. I am guessing that Jacques has realized that his legacy, regardless that he is a world champion, pales in comparison to his father's. So....go with the flow. Image Unavailable, Please Login
