    Hi Gents,
chasing some further information on a car I have found. if anyone knows the car UK Delivered (actually sourced from Hong Kong), RHD F101CL 25043.
Car spent time (known from receipts) UK Western Australia, NSW and California. owned by the allegedly infamous Frank Monte.
    Carb car, dual A/C.
Know first owner P.A.Lewis on the books.

Original Colour unknown as no paint plate, but now red.

    cheers

    DJ

    Hello DJ,
Original colour was red - "Rosso Cherry" with Cream (Crema VM 3997) Connolly hide. It was first registered 6 July 1978, and was UK delivered as you state, but not UK ordered as you also mention.
It was advertised for sale at various dealers at various dates from 1987 to 1991 on plate FRE400 (Australia) and advertised on the plate ABV84D (NSW) at various times from 1994 to 1999. It went through a Shannons Auction, when registered FRE 400 in about 1991. The NSW registration ABV84D expired 20 October 2005.
It was advertised with 48,800 km in 1987, and stated to be owned for 5 years as the MD's car (Wyong Motors Holden Wyong). It was always red/cream in the ads. If you want details of all the ads, let me know. Also if you know more registration plates I may be able to fill in more gaps and provide more history. However it seems that it was in Australia from at least 1982 to 2005.
I understand it was owned by Frank Monte in the 1990s.
    Original Engine is
    F101C001*00330*

    Any pics?
    Regards David

Thanks David , your research amazes me . The car has been stored since 2005 and has suffered some minor screen and sill corrosion and a couple of minor dents to be fixed but appears all there , showing 8592 on the clock so must have been around . Everything looks original though and would make a good project.

Yep , like the idea of carbs and 15" rims , there is a bit of work to do but deserves to be restored , fair bit of money in the body.

Such an original car definitely deserves to be restored as you say. Studying the old ads again, new duco, gearbox and carpets are mentioned in 1999, so it had quite a bit of work not long before it was laid up. One ad mentions it has been in Australia since 1979, and it is effectively Aus-spec, having km/h speedo and rear air. Here's a photo from the Shannons auction c. 1991.

HI , anyone know of the door lock and ignition locks were always matched on the 400s ? Owner got key cut to suit the original code as he lost the keys, new key opens the door locks but won't go into ignition lock , possible ignition jammed ?

On a Series 1, the door and ign is the same key, and the glovebox and lever lock is a different (SAFE) key

Prepared the car for transport on Sunday, it appears that the car was in the US, Beverly hills feb 95 rego ABV84D (aus Rego?) and New York until mid 1999 rego 3TS6499. But who knows what is actually correct.
I was please that the car came with the original warranty book, owners manual, tool roll and little tool suitcase. even more so when the plastic tool case carrier in the spare wheel was there.
I managed to get keys cut to the original code but the key wouldn't go into the ignition at all but would lock and unlock both doors.. I was able to remove the ignition and luckily the shear bolt wasn't sheared.
Pickup is tomorrow so will probably in Perth by late next week.

Far out! So a locksmith can cut from the codes? I thought it would have to some elderly artisan in an Italian monastery that can only be reached by being hoist up in a basket...
