Image Unavailable, Please Login Hi everyone
Just had a set of AFCO shocks fitted to my 360 Modena and am very pleased with the result.
The handling more positive and the car is firmer though still fine for autoroutes in France where I am based.
One thing that concerns me is that I now have an error on the dash showing a suspension fault.
I guess this us because the electronic dampers are not connected.
Does any know if this error can be removed?
I hope I'm correct in assuming this us not a problem but I would like it removed if possible.
Can someone help with a constructive solution.
    Many thanks.

There are bypass units available. KW offers one, yet I'm not sure they will sell it seperatly form the complete suspension kits.

Thank you very much for replying. I will look into that.
I find it really strange with all the so called expertise on this site that yours is the only comment.
Surely many people have changed things on their cars whether it is suspension, exhaust, brakes and yet there is no-one that has had an error on the dash.
Perhaps there aren't the experts that I assumed resided on here after all.

You just dont see all that many cars with enough miles driven that the suspension parts are swapped around is my guess.

Z- Post in the 360/F430 forum for more response. Not too many owners monitor the tech forum. Plus we all know what caused your problem, question is how to fix it, which TB answered. You chapped off the Shock Absorber ECU by disconnecting part of the system.

try the following, may work and may not.

    1. Using a multi-meter to get the Ohm reading of your OEM shocks.
    2. For maybe just a Euro or 2, buy a set of resistors matching the reading above
    3. solder the resistor to the factory connector that was originally connecting to your OEM shocks.
    4. idle the car and try to see if the resistor is giving out too much heat ( for safety reasons)

Thanks for that but aren't there some 360s on the circuits then? Surely these will have severe mods to make them competitive. I guess I could go back to AFCO and pose the question. Umm yes I will.

I would think that you could just disconnect the suspension ECU and you would be fine. A shock company that I know of installed resistors ( I think that they were 2.8 ohm) in place of the shocks on a 16M that they were reworking in order to keep the light from coming on and the ECU end up getting damaged in the process. I don't know if they shorted it out or what happened

Just disconnect the suspension ECU ... AND connect pins 9 & 15 together, otherwise you would lose the operation of the Sport button which goes through the suspension ECU.

Thanks but I don't think the sport button will work with other suspension units will they?
The AFCOs I've installed are manually adjustable. If I use them on the circuit I would adjust them manually.

The Sport button commands also the TCU, the ASR and possibly the Motronic.
The Sport button signal goes to the suspension ECU which in turn sends its status to the dashboard. The dashboard broadcasts the Sport/Normal info on the CAN bus for the other ECUs (cf the diagram).

Of course, the Sport button will do nothing on your suspension but, if you disconnect the suspension ECU, you will have to connect together the 2 pins I mentioned so that the signal is sent directly to the dashboard for the use of the other ECUs.

Hey guys, I've tried out all the methods
Direct pin 9 and 15, solder resistor to the DAMPER socke, yet I stop get the motronic light comes on
The light only comes on after I fitted in full set of new coilovers

Hello any updates on how to get rid of the Suspension Warning if fitting with aftermarket suspension? Does the Pin 9/15 solder work? And where and how to do it?

    Thanks

If we don't want modules installed on a 4 suspension, and the crazy cost for them, has anything else worked for anyone? Capacitor or resistor?

I can confirm that when Pin 9 and pin 15 on the suspension cable are connected the sport button works again, but I don't think the suspension fault error goes out.
