Agreed on the wheels, doesnt look good. A set of 19" CS wheels usually sells for 5-6k and a belt+fluid service is another 4-5k? So around $10k in total to "fix" it. Example of CS wheels with tires asking $6500 (this one just sold here on fchat) http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/ferrari-360-430-19-stradale-challenge-wheels.560076/
I would say it adds value to the car if it has a factory stripe. How much? Hard to say. Some prefer with stripe, some like the clean look of a stripeless CS. Some statistics of my CS registry: Stripe No stripe 363 (48.59%) Factory stripe 127 (17.00%) Aftermarket stripe 110 (14.73%) Aftermarket or factory? 145 (19.41%) French flag stripe 2 (0.27%) 747 cars in total. Where are you getting this "belief"? Pretty sure that is nowhere near correct. The factory stripe is far more rare than non-stripe. I've heard around 1 in 4 CS's before. Mike has perhaps the best data on this. His database (which contains over 50% of all CS's) shows 17% with confirmed factory stripe. Interestingly it shows 15% with confirmed after-market stripe. So, many folks whose cars came without one from the factory think having the stripe is nice and have added one. There are another 19% where his database doesn't show if factory or after-market...even if one split that at 50/50, the factory stripe rate would be approximately 27%. And another 24% are imitating the factory stripe by adding one later on. So, "yeah" about half of all CS's have a stripe, but only about a quarter are original from the factory. The other quarter are imitating the look - imitation is the sincerest form of flattery after-all
I was basing it off of his registry as well. I hadn't looked over it in a few months and just remember seeing the 48%. Glad to see mine is even rarer than I thought.
Thank you all. Decided for factory stripes and alcantara interior. Now the task is to find a great one (not in red color). Do you know of one out there in USA? I know about the silver one from Spivi but not sure if it is sold.
A non-red, factory stripe with alcantara car will be hard to find. Not sure if this car is still for sale. Mike has the data on worldwide CS'. For North America, less than 1/3 of CS' came with factory stripes.
139046 sold @DreamGTO here's another CS similar to 139046 for sale: https://inventory.emcars.com/vehicles/6/2004-ferrari-360-stradale-stradale
Thanks! I see that 139046 was a FC member. Is the market really supporting almost a $300k price? I see that the other black is at $290!
Dream GTO - You should get a red one with a factory stripe for $100k less [disclosure - that's my car for sale] http://www.scottsdaleferrari.com/detail-2004-ferrari-360_modena-challenge_stradale-used-15631619.html
a few weeks ago I did acquire chassis 137262... I certainly did look at a number of available CS cars and reviewed the values.. I would agree that the current market for a better than average CS is a little north of $200k... In my case, I prefer the leather to alcantara...and was lucky to find a car with the factory stripe...
That's a cool car, silver, stripe, blue leather..very unique. I prefer leather too (sought it out when I got mine). Its just a matter of personal preference of course, can't go wrong either way in a CS
Even though the link works, I don't think this car is still available. It also doesn't appear in his inventory. Blu Le Mans with grey-navy alcantara: http://www.mbrandonmotorcars.com/2004-ferrari-360-challenge-stradale-40138536
Current market does not support near $300k but there are outliers. Overall the market has softened quite a bit. 139046 was super low mileage with all OEM accoutrements which helped it fetch close to asking price.
138536 Really does it for me. I'm normally not a big fan of blue but that interior is unreal! 137262 was owned by a member on here.
I'm kinda blind It does *look* blue in a couple of these pics: http://challenge-stradale.com/137262.html
