Hoping for some good news about Mitchell! He's a great and truly respectable man. Love talking to him at different Ferrari events.

 

Got a text from him on September 15th. He said he was bed ridden.

 

Absolutely hate to hear that.

Keeping him in my thoughts and prayers.

 

Have been dealing with Mitchell for years; genuinely hope all is well.

 

mkelly, can you share Betty's contact info, for updates??

I was only aware of his mother (over 100 years old) as a surviving family member.

As you see, many here would like to send messages of support, from the V12 members, to those of us that met him his last successful trip to Austin F1, and that followed his' Garage Building' architectural fiasco!!!

I was even going to send SuperJ to check on him, if he is still in the Lexington, KY area (where my firm has an office).....

I thought of him last week, when I bought a clean Cadillac Allante!!

 

Always enjoyed his posts.

 

I am Mitchell's friend. I have phoned him several times with the last phone call being in the early part of October, but with no reply from Mitchell. October 16th or so I received a text from whom I believe to be his sister. The text stated that he was leaving the hospital and that his prognosis was dire. Very sad! I have been unable to have any more communications with Mitchell's sister.

Please keep Mitchell in your prayers.

I know he cared for his mother, I assume at her home, before falling ill.

The house with his new garage project behind it, was rented to a tenant occupant.

Too many variables to sort out!

Sad news.

 

Think of Mitch a lot. Tough guy, deserves comfort. Hope hospice involved to keep him comfortable and getting cares done so family can just be with him.

I got a text from his phone number yesterday, but obviously not from him, that said he was very ill and too sick to text.

 

Ok. I don't mean to upset anyone, and i'll leave much unsaid.... I just want to let Mitch know that there is much more to this 'life' than 'this life'. The 'real' us lasts for eternity. We all inhabit this earth for such an incredibly short period of time, so I just want him to know that someone who has this many people who care about him has accomplished something wonderful and lasting. There is something amazing waiting for you in the next phase of your existence. I wish you the very best in your fight against sickness. Know that regardless of outcome, there is hope. Best wishes.

i believe it it his sister, karen. she had texted me last night and earlier in the week as she was going thru his phone trying to put names to the numbers.

She has texted me this morning.......Rest In Peace Mitchell Barnes.

He passed away yesterday afternoon, late as the sun was setting.

It was a sunlit, beautiful blue sky day, here in Texas.
So, perhaps it was a good choice, for travelling.

Godspeed, my crazy friend!!!
He would ask a lovely lady:
"Do you collect antiques??"
..and before the answer, he would follow...
"..because I AM available!"

I also looked for the news video of his House Project, but the local media outlet no longer was hosting it, did anyone save that??
We could build an album with all of that, if found.....
