The body looks off to me--fat and droopy.

Those guys seem to have great success with those quite-close mongrels.

Like 196 Dino SPs. Bob Norwood 250 TRs. That sort of thing.

For a surprisingly large asking price.

The grace of the original is lost, the lines/proportions from the windshield back are just wrong.

I would agree with that. It has a sort of chunky quality. Could also be the angle or the yellow. The red #19 car looks thinner to my eyes than even the (presumably) real yellow car.

I would be curious to know if the wheelbase is slightly shorter than it should be.

Why go to the trouble and not get the easy details like vent size and placement right?

They should have gone to Amalgam to help them make the right shape :)

    Donor car a '62?

The bodystyle of the recreation is early SWB.
The red SWB in the last picture above is the later bodystyle.

I am certaibly no expert, but shouldn't a comp SWB have a protector over the L/H exhaust tips for spilled fuel?
Also, can't really see the gearbox in the pics, but I bet it is not of the ribbed style.

Just having a stab at it, it'd look great in my garage.

    Best,

    Jack.

It retains the overdrive, which means they used the original trans, which in turn means it has a really short drive shaft. Yes, the body certainly is flawed, which is a shame with all the work that went into making it. Oh well. I wonder why they didn't copy a '61 comp instead of an early car? Anyone know the asking?

Yes, there are some good ones, and I wouldn't mind owning one. For sure I can't afford a real one any more.

I think it's gorgeous... IMO: Close enough to the original design that it's still way beyond beautiful...

GTO replicas are beautifully built but the nose is incorrect on all the cars. Its too flat and they failed to incorporate the subtle 'lip' to the bodywork above the radiator grill.......I heard that the chassis for these cars are built from scratch....... Can anybody confirm this or shout me down ?

Well... I will make a point... can't give you the penultimate answer... but just about every single nose of every GTO is different. So it depends on which car they based it on. And no I am not just talking about fog lights, vents and the like... I mean they were probably lucky to be totally symmetrical and to have the headlights fit. Hand built is hand built.

Hi Justin........ I think you misunderstood my post. I was referring to the 250 SWB replicas built by GTO Enginering in the UK. They built a run of about 12 cars and all have this very flat 'nose' to them that looks so wrong.......

A fellow I know is having a 250TR replica/tribute/whats-it built-up by GTO Engineering. They either sourced a chassis for him (250 GTE, maybe?) or he located it himself. Can't recall. But, at least on that project, they did not build a chassis from scratch. Maybe not the case for the SWB.
