BTW Dr Joe likes his red/beige 458 Spider better than his old 16M in every way. His spider is almost identical to mine...no stripe for mine. Image Unavailable, Please Login
WOW Ryan! Incredible photo. It was a pleasure to meet everyone. Normally the trees are starting to be in full swing with the colors this time of year, but I think the warm/wet weather is delaying the colors.
That was one of the highlights of the weekend for sure. Lots of good driving although I wish going over the pass had better weather. Here's a pic of my wet car at the top of the pass on Thursday. All things considered, it was way better than staying home on the front range for the weekend. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Having lived here for the last 13+ years, the leaves do not change until the last week of September. So we are now a week away from things getting colorful in any significant way.
FCA RMR is planning a trip from somewhere in Denver. We will be there unless it rains, snows, sleets, hails, etc.
Cool I haven't seen any info yet, I was just wondering if it got lost in the FFFT shuffle. Hopefully we can finally meet up! -F
Indeed. Foliage update: Been raining off and on all day...sometimes really hard. some small hail once. this is not good as it knocks the leaves off the trees. 0% chance of rain Friday and Saturday (Grand Day). we are staying in Vail Fri nite. My experience the cars start leaving before noon. Bert is heading up the caravan to Vail. An email to him would be a good idea if you want to hook up with the group. ciao.
Drove through Minturn, Tennessee Pass, and Leadvile Sat 9/21. Snow on Mount Massive. Some huge groves of Aspen trees turned yellow and some red. Maybe 20% of the trees have changed. Not much change yet on the Aspen side of Ind Pass.
Leaves over here are finally starting to change. First snow. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Did Berthoud, Gore, Rabbit Ears, and Cameron Passes yesterday; Gore is the best right now; the rest are maybe a week or so early from peak...and if you haven't been over Gore, it is one of Colorado's best-kept driving secrets, IMHO. Hwy 134 from just north of Kremmling west to Toponas. Best of all, CO14 is open all the way through Poudre Canyon with just two construction locations--both very short.
Did a one car Fall Foliage Tour through Ouray, Silverton, Million Dollar Hwy to Durango. Spent the night and then retraced the trip the next day. Weather was perfect for convertibles and the leaves were in their fall glory. Life is good. Yesterday on our Fall Foliage trip it was 70s in the valleys and 60s on top of the passes. Hardly a cloud in the sky. Woke up this morning to this: so we are going to "Rush" today. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
We spent a couple of days in the San Juans this week hiking. Brought the dogs, so no Ferrari. Here are some pics from Kilpacker trail. It's an easy 3.5 miles to the lower falls. 14er El Diente dominates the views. The San Juans never disappoint.
