I just got my repaired F1 display unit from Hill engineering and put the instruments back. I now get a airbag warning light and a slow down light! The slow down light might not be related since I have wired the bypass valve open, but the airbag light probably is. Can anyone tell me what could have caused it to come of as I removed and re-installed the instruments?

The airbag system failure memory registered a failure of the warning light when you turned on the key with the inst. cluster removed. You will need to get it hooked up to an SD 1 or 2 to get it turned out.

Really? wow. This same thing happened to me, so I took it to the local dealer and they said my airbag ECU was a goner.... $1200. How common is that?

That is actually quite common when you run the battery down and try to start the car. The capacitor discharge system in the ECU that fires the bags does not like low voltage when it is charging at first turn of the key for some reason and takes out the unit. I always wondered why so many were failing and I popped one once myself and figured it out. All it takes is a low battery and a fruitless attempt to crank over the motor.

One more reason to keep a battery tender on the car.
