The computer of the Enzo have probably already been checked by the Police (probably through Cavallari-Monaco). The last speed before the crash is recorded. If it is said it's 60, then it's 60.

i think the circumstances of the enzo crashes have been rather unfortunate.

    1. Ericson hit a wooden telegraph pole right bang in the center of the car
    2. The black Enzo hit a tree right bang in the center of the car
    3. The one racing in the gumball or whatever was driving at excessive speed (I think it was excessive but legal due to the circumstances) therefore I do not think its unreasonable that this also split in half
    4. The one were the guy died in Italy or Spain (Milan I think) was also going at an excessive speed and seemed to hit a tree or pole too.

If the vehicle is designed in such a way that it splits in half in an abnormal event then the car has done its job. 3 of the 4 above events were due to excessive driving as far as I know in the wrong conditions i.e. not a race track.

The cars I believe are designed well but the reason for the severity of the damage is one created by those who drive it.

Good point but its just speculation. Theres no way that a car built like that could end up in that state at a 60mph crash, absolutely no way.

We could speculate all day long.

We can see that the Enzo is not broken in two parts...as my father saw saturday in Nice.

The picture is taken from the Cote d'azur airport camera.

Thanks to mikigta for the picture.

    Last news are :
    The car wasn't his...
It is said the guy had no experience of this kind of car.
The car seemed to be registred in Switzerland (then it wouldn't be the black car registred in the '83 state but I'm not too sure about this last thing as it was read in a newspaper).

    - "Kerimov lost control of the Ferrari while overtaking another car*, hitting the sidewalk and then a tree before the engine caught fire, the policeman said. Traffic rules limit cars on the Promenade des Anglais to 50 kilometers (31 miles) per hour."
    * road was wet as it has been a rainy day.

P.S. : stupid people do stupid things.

While I've never driven an Enzo, I've driven a few paddle shift cars and I wonder if the abruptness of the shift on the wet road can create a lost traction situation? I downshifted in a 355F1 on a wet turn near Mt. Tamalpais and the rear end jumped out quickly and surprisingly. I can imagine if you were overtaking and shifted up or down at the same moment, it could unexpectedly break loose and spin you out of control. These Enzo crashes remind me of the Cirrus plane accidents; lots of performance in unexperienced hands and possibly a mysterious design flaw (total speculation with no facts to support a flaw).

    Quote from here:
Ferrari Enzo is a racing vehicle not designed for use in residential areas.

    In a certain sense,it's right.

It was in Italy (Burago Di Molgora, near Milan),and the car hit a pole...the driver loose control at about 150-160 MPH ,locals reported.
It was tore into several pieces.

The pole is visible in this photo,is on the left:

The negative comments on this thread are in bad taste and are not appropriate. While some geek sitting behind his/her computer types a quick negative / wise remark about someone’s apparent driving skill in an Enzo then comments how sad it is that the car is “totaled”. That crash is horrible and it could happen to anyone, I am sure that 100% of Ferrari owners have done things in their cars that have been questionable and with some bad luck could have ended like that – I have many times. That picture with the car on fire the people could have been in the car and with the doors closed most likely where in the car at the time of the photo on fire – who cares about a Ferrari at a time like that, a horrible sad situation.

So in this picture the car is in one piece but in most of the other pictures the car is separated into two pieces. How did this happen?

Very sad about the fire and the occupants being burned badly. That must have been horrible, regardless of what caused the accident.

    This was on Reuters earlier

11:52 28Nov06 RTRS-Russia TV star says she wasn't in tycoon car crash
    By Richard Balmforth
MOSCOW, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Married Russian TV star Tina
Kandelaki on Tuesday defended her squeaky clean image after
French police said she was the mystery woman with a Russian
billionaire when he crashed his sports car on the Riviera.
A police source in Nice said 31-year-old Kandelaki was
treated for minor injuries after businessman Suleiman Kerimov's
black Ferrari slammed into a tree. But the presenter said she
was at home all the time with her husband and children.
As Kerimov fought in a Marseille hospital to recover from
terrible burns he suffered in the crash, scandal enveloped
Kandelaki, wife of a wealthy entrepreneur and regularly billed
as one of Russia's most glamorous but respectable public faces.
The racy tale of wealth and possible indiscretion drove
Russia's fast-growing tabloid press into a frenzy. "The
billionaire burned, trying to save the presenter Tina
Kandelaki," a headline in Your Day newspaper ran.
The French police source confirmed Kandelaki was briefly
treated at Saint Roch hospital in Nice on Saturday suffering
from slight burns to the legs following the accident on the
    city's Promenade des Anglais.
She checked out of the hospital very quickly, the police
    source said.
But Kandelaki, who has an untainted public image as a
presenter of children's programmes and host of a popular
chat-show "Details", was determined to tough out the scandal.
She told Russian journalists she had been with her family at
home in Moscow all the time, recovering from mumps which stopped
    her making any public appearances.

    DUMPLINGS AND MUMPS
"I'm at home, eating dumplings," she told the mass-selling
daily Komsomolskaya Pravda. "If you want to come and get mumps
you're welcome to drop by and see me!"
"After the sort of accident that Suleiman had, nobody could
have got out of that car without being hurt," she said.
But her version appeared to be contradicted by her husband,
Andrei Kondrakhin, who told Your Day that she had been in France
with Kerimov -- though not in the car with him at the time of
    the accident.
There was no immediate word on Kerimov's condition on
Tuesday. A hospital spokesman in Marseille said on Monday that
he was in a critical condition, suffering from burns.
The bespectacled Kerimov, who also holds a seat in the State
Duma (lower house of parliament), is a man with the Midas touch
as well as a taste for the good life.
He has a formidable reputation as a deal maker who bought
and sold companies, later ploughing his profits into
high-profile investments such as gas monopoly Gazprom and
    Russia's largest bank, Sberbank.
He is worth $7.1 billion according to Forbes magazine, whose
annual survey of the world's richest people put him at No. 72,
and made him the 11th richest Russian.
Married with three children, Kerimov also controls silver
mining firm Polymetal, which plans an initial public share
    offering in January.
Moscow media reported last year that he paid $1 million to
fly pop stars Shakira and Christina Aguilera to Russia to
entertain guests at his 40th birthday.

All true but IMO a Enzo is a bit different in that as I've said it gets FAST fast and if you don't exercise common sense you can get into BIG trouble much faster than you can in a 308. If you put it in first, select RACE mode and stomp on the gas you really have to understand "opposite lock" and quick shifting as you reach 8000 rpm's in seconds. If this is something you've not yet learned I'd roll on the throttle and keep her in Sport not Race.

Very Sad. Thoughts with Him and Her.
