I know the Miura are selling for a pretty penny right now, but what where they going for 18 years ago? I ask because I clearly remember driving around Oklahoma city when I was 17 and seeing a white Miura and talking to the owner, he was selling it for around $20k. if only I had the cash...

It was possible, you could find them in the 50's in the mid 90's.

A friend had an opportunity to buy one from an estate around '93 but did not think it was worth $70K. Every time he is here and I am working on a Lamborghini, he reminds me of his loss.

Well I will admit I could have come up with the money for it if I had tried but being a child of the Countach era I did not particularly like it. Now that I have aged I love them.

I also regret destroying my childhood GI Joe collection, a collection a little smaller than mine sold on eBay last year for $150k. the things we end up kinking our own butts over...

Sounds like a good discount (slow seller, LOL!).

I thought they were closer to $20K.

P400 was around $10k, and Raymond is correct about the SV list price for Europe, although the USA cars were all invoiced at $20,000 or in excess, on the ground in the USA..

The dark blue car in the background is a Gandini-styled prototype of the Bugatti EB110.

Lamborghini's at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, August 17th, Monterey Bay in California, Valentino Balboni will drive the lot.

His first drive in one: September 5th 1973. Miura SV.

    Balboni quotes:
"I didn't realize exactly what was going on," he said. "I thought it was not really me driving a Miura by myself past the company gate. I remember the feeling I was approaching curves too fast, but I wasn't at all. I was so respectful yet afraid of the car's performance, but the engine's sound was making me smile the whole time."
"They say you never forget your first love, and that Miura was truly my first love. It was personal to me because the car symbolized and embodied Ferruccio Lamborghini's philosophy. It was an honor to drive it and still it is. The Miura is an icon in sports car history."

VB roadtested about 80% of ALL Lamborghini's:
"Despite driving so many years and kilometers, everyday is still exciting and fresh with great emotion. My longtime experience makes the driving more easy and pleasant and the feeling is always a friendly sensation."

"I have great satisfaction that Lamborghini is being honored at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance," he said. "Pebble Beach is the biggest and most famous car show in the world – every enthusiast knows about it. It's a very exclusive event and it's important for us to be here. To see my company being honored by Pebble Beach and to be a judge is very satisfying."

Judging his beloved cars will be hard:
"It will be difficult to judge them because they are all authentic and beautiful, but I am happy they asked me to do it. The list of Lamborghinis is very impressive and I know every screw, every part and detail of the cars, so I'm looking forward to judging them."

The Miura is an icon in sports car history.

    Bow!

I along with one other Miura owner had our cars judged at the Carmel-by-the-Sea Concours on Ocean Avenue on Tuesday Aug 12th, and I'm happy to report we were both recognized with awards. One high note of the day was getting to catch up with Valentino Balboni. Attached is a photo of Valentino at our Miura.

It was great to hear that Valentino was selected to be a class judge at the Pebble Beach Concours on Sunday. A recognition he well deserves.
