Stalling a bit. @ about $9.5mm reserve comes off. It's @ $11mm before fees. (I think the original owner started this car's asking price last year around $15mm.) Sold @ 8.2mm euros...around $12.2mm with buyers fees.

The car had a little confusing history. Another point is that the body was changed many years ago. When Moss drove it in Monaco `56 it was shortnose, now its a longnose body. Then - there are some other -and better!- 250F`s for sale. Ciao! Walter
Here's a complete but unofficial list in PDF with all prices incl. buyer's premium (10%) and Italian taxes (20% on premium). Really nice auction !!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Does anyone know if all cars are subject to the Italian Tax (20% on premium) or just those cars that are being sold out of Italian ownership? -Jarrett
Only a few lots (203, 211 & 219) were subject to 20% VAT as all others are just there on a temporary import bond so the tax does not apply in most cases and it's better to see the prices without. Also, missing are several lots (as reported in Paul's post) since I would assume you are not including them because they are either Dino's, Maserati's but what about Lots 219 and 235? LOT 219 SOLD 60,000 Euros Bidder in room LOT 235 SOLD 320,000 Euros Bidder in room Rangemaster
Very nice job, but why did it take so long (almost 15 minutes) for you to publish these results? Just joking of course! Great stuff!
Some others out thee for sale at this price point?? Seems like remarkable value... at 0.75 the price of a steel SWB. shocking
Hi Jarrett, The 20% Italian VAT on the premium only has nothing to do with the origin of the car, but with the fact that a commission is received within Italy. Here's the information published on the RM Auctions website: "BUYERS PREMIUM The buyers premium in effect at Legenda e Passione is 10%. Since the sale is conducted in Italy, IVA (Italian VAT) on the buyers premium at the Italian rate of 20% will be collected by RM and remitted to the Italian tax department. For example, a tax paid automobile purchased for a hammer (block) price of 100.000 will be invoiced at 112.000 (100.000 purchase price + 10.000 buyers premium + 2.000 VAT on the buyers premium)." IMO, strong price for 250 TR in todays market, BUT all of these values seem to be settling where they were 5 years ago, and some sellers will be shocked to find there California's back at 2 - 4 mil. Euros, SWB's at the same, and TDF's at 1 - 2 mil. Just what is a 330p4/350 CanAm/ ? worth tho - 7.25 mil. Euro I would have thought was all the money in the current climate. Especially considering it could be 10 - 15 years before we get back to the BIG prices again.
Here is a story on the record 250 TR auction result, including a picture of it being hammered sold. http://www.sportscardigest.com/archives/5690
Anyone know what Lot 219, the 212 Inter Europa went for. Total price, ie, all the money that came out of the guys wallet.
I was there this afternoon and it looked like someone did his homework: the bider stepped out and could not be tempted to pay 7.5 mil. And he is right: although advertised as a 330P4, the car is officially a 350 Can Am, since the factory did the conversion back then. When you buy a car like this and restore it back to 330P4 configuration, you will not receive a Certificate from Ferrari Classiche. Something to think about when you like Pebble Beach or Villa d 'Este. So: the prices of a P4 will be in the range as Cavallino listst them: 10-14 mil $, but this car is not a P4 (according to the factory sheets)
Were you able to identify the bidders for the 350 in the room? Was Walter Medlin there for RM to try getting the reserve reset? Any word on post auction sales? Jeff
Napolis has been strangely silent for awhile THANKS everyone for the photos and updates throughout the weekend- the next best thing to being there.
