I'll give it a shot. Put me on the list. Thanks
Got the package from Joe in today's mail. Will watch it this weekend and post my review. Blue@heart, I think you are next. Please PM me your mailing address -- make sure to carefully spell out any of that funny Canadian address stuff (like having both letters and numbers in your postal code). - Eric
I watched this movie for the first time the night before my 550 (my first Ferrari) was to be delivered...really stoked the Ferrari fires...couldn't sleep all night...what a weekend that was!
I've finished watching the DVD -- review still to come. Meanwhile, I'll be sending this masterpiece sent off to Blue@heart... - Eric
OK, Blue@heart, the DVD is on its way to the Northwest Territories! Based on what it cost me to ship this, I would suggest that we get all the Canadians done first before sending this DVD back to the states... - Eric
excellent suggestion. I apologize if it ended up being too expensive. It certainly wasn't my intent to put anybody out. Now how about a review I can't wait to hear!
Seeing as you have been around here for almost 5 years! I think we can make an exception If you live in the U.S. you are in!
Ferrari! A hard-hitting drama that pulls you in and won't let go until its final startling conclusion! ...ok, not really... Ferrari! A stunningly accurate portrayal of the man who created one of the worlds most iconic brands, and in the process, became a legend! ...well, maybe not... Ferrari! The story of Enzo Ferrari, highlighted by dramatic on-track racing footage that rivals John Frankenheimer's epic "Grand Prix"!! ...umm, not so much... OK, let's face it. This is a "chick flick" -- it's all about human emotion. And not just ordinary everyday human emotion, but amplified, overdramatized and over-the-top human emotion. Still, I enjoyed it. It was fascinating in a "this is awful but I can't stop looking" kind of way. I kept thinking, I can't believe that the Ferrari family and the Ferrari company endorsed this -- I guess it just shows that Italy is in love with their national hero, warts and all. Having said all that, there are some real positives to the film. There are many beautiful cars portrayed, and some nice cinematography. There is some interesting historical footage. As far as I could tell, they did a good job with period details -- it seemed like the Ferrari factory was a fair recreation of what it must have looked like back in the day. And there are some beautiful Italian women (and one topless scene!!). Bottom line, I would definitely watch this movie again... Maybe just not right away. PS -- As my charitable act, I made a donation to the Baltimore Station rehab shelter (www.baltimorestation.org). Oh, and I mailed the DVD to the great white north!
Dom is next on the list, he is in California, but I am in Canada along with Blueheart who has it now - so should Blueheart send it to me first, and then I can send it to Dom? I believe Blueheart and I are the only 2 Canadians on the list....Dom, are you okay with that?
I didn't realize that it would be expensive to ship across our Northern border. Unless Dom objects, lets keep it in Canada first to cut down on the shipping costs. Have Blueheart send it to you, and then you send it to Crinoid. After that, we will ship it Dom and continue through the US for awhile.
The DVD hasn't arrived here yet, but I'm on the look out and it should arrive in the next couple days.... I just wanted to break the silence and bump the thread
I shipped it on Jan 12 via USPS Priority Mail International. The stated delivery time was 6 to 10 days, so we're still in that window. Unfortunately, I did not put tracking on the shipment, so there's no way to find out where it is... - Eric
Yeah I'm not stressed Eric, mail here to Yellowknife is frequently one or two days longer then the stated time anyways. I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still alive and involved in the project -David
I got the DVD in my hands this morning and last night an extra $20 donation was made to Doctors without borders in Fchat's name. One question: were we signing the DVD cover or something? I vaugely remember mention of this but don't see Eric's sig on there anywhere regardless I'm pretty busy this week so I'll try to get it turned around but it might be early next week before it gets out to the next person -David
Thanks for the update and for the generous donation. Please sign the DVD cover for posterity! Looking forward to reading your review!
Glad the DVD finally got there -- must've gone by dog sled. I signed the liner notes page on the inside of the DVD case. - Eric
