http://www.bellagiomotors.com/detail-2005-ferrari-f430-2dr_convertible_spider-used-7310081.html I own a scuderia already and have a 458 on the way, but i think this would be a good daily driver...im just not sure if its priced well...what do you guys think? i know it has a lot of miles, but the annual service was just done and it just got a new clutch. Is it a good deal?
Wow, 30k miles is high but they sure do make up for it with that price! Even if it ends up low 120k that's a great price for a daily driver!
yeah its a good price but since they are not a ferrari dealer its hard to get the facts on the car and the history without an inspection from a dealer. I think i can get the car for 120k
Please help break the mold here. 30K is not high for a maintained car. We need more folks that will drive these cars into the 6 figures to prove how great they are. I think the hard part is pricing, since 30K is not common place yet for a modern F-Car. Seems reasonable compared to others with lower milage and it is a Spider which is 10-15K premium over Coupe. I agree with above posts that an offer of 120K is a good starting point. This car is 6 years old and 5k a year is fine for a DD. I got mine 1st week Jan 11 with 8K on it and now have 14K and still see another 2-3K for this season. Ferrari have worked hard to make their bread and butter V8s reliable drivers just like any other high end manufacturer. I think you will find that the 458 is even more so. I see no reason that an F430 cannot drive 100k+ with regular scheduled maintenace and consumables replaced as required. I agree with the OP, he is looking for a DD, then this car surely has proven to be just that. As long as it is well maintained, I say go for it and drive it with impunity and a big fat grin on your face. Since all your cars can have a bumper sticker on the back that says "My other car is a Ferrari!!!!" .......Good luck........Steve
What am I missing? Why is 29,459 miles considered a lot of miles? If they were track miles, yes. But street miles? It may be a lot of miles in FerrariLand because many Ferrari's are not driven much, but is 29,459 miles really anything to worry about in the larger automotive engineering perspective? Did all Ferrari owners just buy some delicate flower of a machine? That view doesn't make any sense for a car that can handle a racing environment. I would not worry about that mileage if it was just serviced by the dealer. But I would exploit the perception of high mileage by getting a better price on such a car. Mike
thanks for the input guys great help...im new to this site as you can see, but im looking forward to meeting the regulars, giving and receiving feedback. THANKS!
Here's the stupid question of the day! You obviously have money > THis is a good thing. With a Scud and a 458 in the hopper, why would you buy a high mileage first year 430 that had someone SIT on the muffler. I think its a great idea for a 430 DD, but this is a bargain hunters car. Too many sweet 430s out there for the pickings. also the future resale value of this car will wipe out any savings you imagine you gained getting into the car. Just an observation. All the best !
Car looks well maintained, but you can't tell much with those pictures. I'd definitely check leather wear. If it's proportional to what I've seen, it's going to look like crap up close. If not, that tells you the car is very well cared for. I'd also get it thoroughly checked for accident damage, especially the serious kind. I'd expect the front bumper to have been resprayed at least once. Finally, we must change the oil at least once annually, so driving the car 1,000 or 5,000 miles is not going to cost you any more in maintenance. Price seems fair if well maintained, even with the mileage. But check that everything works. And put the roof down and make sure the dash light goes out (I have that problem, and freaking dealer didn't catch it). Good luck.
30k on one of these cars, (IMHO), is nothing. High miles? Yes, if it is a show car. Buy it if you like it. It's barely broken in.
Probably true. This is a real high miler in the F world. You're probably not going to end up driving it all that long with the other choices. I'd imagine you'll take about a $15K hit in a year or so. If you don't care and just want that DD then go for it.
