    Okay they should stay then.

I must admit if I was rich enough to purchase this car I would remove them and store them safely to be put back on if I ever sold it. But maybe in the flesh they don't look so silly?

I was invited by its owner M.C. to test drive the 150S #03.
What a lovely car! Steve Hart restored the engine and it was really flying!
When the car appeared from Germany to its current owner, it was found that the engine was running on 3 "pots" only and the gearbox was actually more or less destroyed!

The only explanation I have for Hans Tanner`s negative repord was, that the car was completely un-sorted.

The car goes very well and has a nimble handling. Very neutral in corners with perfect gearbox it was a pleasure to drive. The only thing it needs now is an owner who drives it a lot. This person has a chance to buy it at Gooding in Scottsdale 2013....

Walter, thank you for the engine photos. Very tidy and clean, wonderful.

I have a question about the gauge on the transmission tunnel. What is it? Is it an "speed indicator" or "rally timer"? Is there a detailed photo of it? Very interesting.

I really like how the wheel wells are filled by the Borrani wheels and tires. Very, very attractive lines.

    Many thanks,

    Trev

    Lovely shots Walter.
That is just a fabulous little car. I hope the owner/seller does really well when the car is sold. It's about time a special Maserati performed well at auction.
I am bored to tears reading about the preposterous money some of the 1950's Ferraris are making - this deserves to be up there with them.

    Trev,
its a clock and timer.Unfortunately I don`t have a detailed shot of it.
But the resto is outstanding and the attention for the details are remarkable.
Many parts Maserati used were coming from other (older?) sources.
The the door handles (in- and outside) for example comes from the A6G 1500, the rear headlamps came from FIAT.

Well, Maserati cars are not perfectly suited for any auction as long as the Ferrari-hype lasts.

In which case I hope the auction is stuffed full of boring single louvre TdF's and I can persuade the wife that we need to go New Year sale shopping in Arizona this time :)

Very pretty car. Interesting that the dash top is body color. I would think the reflection on the windshield could get annoying.

No reflection as the winshield is quite straight up. I drove it in partly sunshine.

I believe that the Fantuzzi 150 GT is in the backgound at VCM. Next to an Zagatto A6G? and an early 3500GT.

    Is that correct?

What a group of cars.....infact, I think that all of the cars that the F/150GT were are at one point are pictured in the photograph.

...yessss! (the 250F in front is #2528, the car Fangio drove to Victory in Monaco in `57, still with its race no. 32.
    no.1 is the Moss-450S #4505, almost ready for the 1000km Nuerburgring `57).
In the background is the uplifted 350S #3503.

This clock was not present, when Hans Thanner picked up the car in March 1960 and when I inspected the car in July 2004 (see photos). There are some more differences visible when comparing the dashboard of the restored car with the photo of Hans Tanner.

    Great pictures!

Having someone actually in the car gives the viewer a much better perspective of the lines and design of the car.

    ...the owner!
But the car indeed has some 300S-sections in the chassis.
When I was in Geneva to drive and ispect the car last November, I discussed the very puzzling history details the owner had researched. Also the Factory was involved...

I have my doubts on some way but other details the owner presented convinced me.
Its is a very very interesting car!

    Grazi Walter! :)

So this photo and other photos that include these cars are from circa mid 1957. Putting the 3500 GT/T in the photos as June or July or Aug 1957 build dates. Very early cars; likely the first ones built.

    Yes?

Yes, as #4505 was sold to a John Edgar little later and arrived in the USA in June `57!

    I see #32 as a piccolo 250F (2534?) and #1 as the 300S (3080?) used by Moss at Roskilde in august 1958.
