Don't mind it as a GTB, but I'm admittedly not a fan of this in GTS trim... Just my 2c.

Thats the best picture i've seen yet of one. I saw a kit at a show in Charlotte a few months ago that didn't look nearly that good. The real car looks like a kit car to me so i guess it's not so bad that this is a kit car. Never liked how the rear looks like it's spliced to the center of the car when looking from the side.

Yeah, it might not be so bad if you did it to a $19,000 driver.

    Does look nice though.

This car is an Fchatter in Europe...sorry I did not look closer before I spoke..

He has everything correct....mirrors, real lights ($$$$$$$$$$) and a LOT of time into this........

About as close as you can get without $450K...

So..this one is nice...they are out there........

I wouldn't go so far as to call the conversion a "kit." I think "rebody" would be more accurate. Over time, many Ferraris have seen rebodies - the valuable ones by notable Italian coachbuilders, of course - but when I think of a kit, I imagine a large wooden crate full of parts accumulated from who-knows-where that, once assembled, poorly resemble the original which they intend to imitate (most of the time).

Replicas, a la the Superformance Cobra Daytona Coupes et al and the Beck Spyders, are another category yet...

looks quite nice...but very hard to improve on the original gts. the 308's are pretty well designed machines. all the best of the 246 and 512 wrapped in one!!

That guy has some incredible skills to cut out the original fenders, splice in metal and in turn mold those curves.

I see what you mean about this not being a kit.

I've just never walked up to a rebody that i've seen where within ten feet of the car something didn't look right or you just knew it was a redo. I've seen several kits or rebodies or whatevers and for a brief second i'm thinking "oh wow a GTO!" but by the time i get up close i'm dissapointed.

From the pics. this looks like it may be one worth having though.

This one is pretty, but the GTB would have been a better choice. Personally, I have no problem with anyone that wants to emulate, celebrate?, a 288 GTO by converting their 308 so long as they do a decent job. It's not like the 308 world is going to suffer for the loss of 1 more car or the GTO is going to suffer because there's another replicar out there (with base 308 motor).

I'd like to see a 83,84 or 85 QV GTB done as a GTO with a turbo package just to be closer to the spirit of the 288 with its blown V-8.

It just wasn't meant to look like that! If you can't afford the 288 GTO, most of us are in that case, go for a nice 308/328 GTB! As simple as that!

I seem to remember a North Carolina rebody that was rear ended and the owner was an Fchatter and asked for help finding a good repair shop - does this ring a bell? Carreaper is this the thread you recall?

yes, sort of, i thought the ferrari rearended another car in the rain? minor front damage? would be a fun car, but i wonder if the added weight would make them drive strangely. 308s are kinda slow enough without adding weight.

supercharger...... now that would be cool :) . hard to sell a heavily modded ferrari though. lots of fickle buyers out there.

i think the rebody looks great when done properly.

I didn't talk to the guy in Charlotte that had it at the Auto Fair out on the track at the lowe's motor speedway so i don't know it's history. It just looked fake to me not like the one in this thread.

Had a nice yellow 328 that looked perfect at same show.

    Both for sale.

Mostly American muscle cars so seeing a Ferrari at that show is rare.

Did you notice how dirty it was :) Like 'm dirty, draws a lot less attention than when it is washed and waxed. Sometimes you don't want the attention and after a week daily driving it you forget you are in something special.
Hey, it's just a fun car, was fun building it and is fun driving it. Still the 308 badge on the rear. Conversion costs were only a few thousand and that included a respray and metal work that was needed anyway. Not only the car got wider, I myself too from handsanding "a few" kilos of bodyfiller.
If this car or a 308 in general was meant to be a cherished classic icon then they shouldn't be so cheap that a normal working guy like me could afford one! Just a little kidding and teasing.
