Yeah, and maybe redoing the WHOLE interior... I think I have seen a thread about this car before? NO??
I don't get it... why the hell is there no engine or interior? Someone got tool-happy and decided to strip it inside out? Seriously, anyone got info?
Wow...no way to really know what's missing and what's not. I mean what about the wiring harness? What about the climate controls? And what's missing from inside the dash? How can you determine the "completeness" of the car? And '95 Berlinetta values don't leave a lot of room for fixing this car up unless you have a good complete parts car for less than $20k or so. There would be many hours spent getting the car nice. I'd pass on it unless it was dirt cheap. And I know this is a sin to say....but I'd think about "street-rodding" it with perhaps a "domestic" V8 and a good custom interior. Okay....go ahead and shoot me.....
It's the 355 from the last Bond movie. The one they stuck nose first into mud. This doesn't seem like a smart buy for anyone looking to make it original.
has 348 door "handles" if you can call them that.... the things that you push to open the door. lol -Thomas
looks like it may have been used in that capacity...in the trailer park! ot that there is anything wrong w/ a trailer park.
Isn't that serial number to low for 355 production cars. I know its a euro car but even at that I think the 355s started in 98000 range. I'm not at home so I can not check the exact starting nos. more in the late 328 range isn't it, anyway it doesn't make sense. Regards, Vern
I know this car!, there is another thread somewhere possibly on the old site?. It was a very rough 348 in the UK being made up to be a track car by QV London It was sold by them tothe film company to be thrown out of the back of the plane in the flim but they used CGI instead. Originally Red it was resprayed, when it went ot Eon it had no engine, box, loom, interior, all wheels were cracked, bent, suspension is not all original ie mixed bits. To my knowledge it was not a Challenge car and it defintely was not supplied directly by Ferrari, IIRC it was just an accident damaged road car
SO - lets recap for the folks at home : We have a car being sold under false pretenses - the VIN shows the car to be a 348 from Europe with accident history. It was hastily repaired, using scrap 355 body panels and sports a rummage-bin suspension. It has no engine, transmission, or interior. Its NOT the original color, in fact there isn't much on this car that is/was ever original. There is no title, so even if you were to make the enormous financial leap on this car, its a un-federalized EURO so the car might be illegal from the get-go. Oh, wait, it had a bit part in a VERY CRAPPY movie once...where it got pushed out of an airplane at altitude (wonder why - this thing is a heap)...oh, well, that MUST be worth $27,000. I'll buy it for $5.
the mystery deepens... http://www.ferrariclub.com/faq/vin.html shows that the 6th & 7th digit of the serial # makes it a "355".. even though clearly the last 5 place it as a 1989 car and the 4th digit as "N" ...doesnt exist
Thanks for the link to check out the VIN of your Ferrari. I checked mine out, spot on,thanks again. And you are right about the "N" in that VIN. It doesnt add up to me either. It looks like a half bodged up kit car anyways! The pics of the engine bay are total crap. On the 348,the 355 may be different,i dunno sorry, the top of the spring/strut mount,is different to the setup in the pics in the back of the yellow 355?? Hmmmmmmm.......................
he states in the auction that "possible used bt Ferrari as a test bed for the F355's" That would explain the N in the vin, and I for one have seen a ferrari or 2 with extra digits stamped on a vin as Luguigi has to much wine at lunch Does anyone know if they had sold the p348 to 355 test cars ?? as they would be built on a 348 frame, etc.. -a
