    Dear all

I will receive my red 458 Italia in 3 months and after having done everything with the configurator I have to complete it as in one week I will not be able to do anymore changes

    RIMS:

Actually there are 4 rims available, all 20"

    - Normal rims (not like star design as seen on many demo 458's but just "bigger" and "larger" in the design) called painted Standard Rims (on the configurator)

    - Same as above but "darker" named Optional rims "RICS" cost 1.800 euro (not on configurator, same as first but darker)

    - Star design rims (as seen on many 458's demo cars) called Optional Rims "RMSV" price 4.200 euro (same as last ones but not "darker")

    - Same as above but darker called Optional Rims "RMSV" with special grey peinture 356/C3 price 6.000 euro (forged sport rims on the site on the configurator)

    Wich do you suggest ?!!??!

Last detail, very unhappy when once confirmed the list of optionals I saw that even if you don't want them, BUT you are obliged to add NAVISYSTEM and Electrochromic internal and external rear view mirrors at the prices of 2.500 and 1.200 euro.

I will post as soon as possible pictures of my 458 once received !!!

The optional "RMSV" thin spoke rims in silver would be my choice by far. The standard rims look too 80's...

To start with the compulsory Navi system and electrochromic mirrors first: different to the (stone old) CD-navi system for the F430 (in the first two years, later there was at least a navi with flash memory), the new navi of the 458 is a must IMO. It's fully integrated into the interior and I guess it works perfectly with the right LCD-screen. The electrochromatic mirrors may be a gadget, but they won't hurt either in such a car.

Now concerning the rims. For me - and that may be just me - the "standard rim" is the way to go in case of the 458 Italia. This is because of three reasons:

    1) optional star design rim is nothing original to the 458, since they were introduced for the 16M Spider
    2) for my taste these optional rims show just a bit too much of the brakes
    3) I like the new design of the standard rims, which are reminiscent of the 348 wheel (but do look better)

The option RICS for 1.800 Euro, that you call "darker", is acutally the standard wheel, but painted in chrome, so they will look a bit more shiny. Wether you prefer the painted version or the chrome one, is up to your personal liking and may depend on the exterior colour you have chosen.

does anyone has pictures with the different rims ? it's different to only see it on the brochure than on the car

My car will be red with black interiors, yellow calipers, scudetti ferrari on the sides, park front and rear, navi, leather ceiling and back interiors, yellow rev's counter, grey under doors

My pleasure! I would also go for the standard wheel, still undecided between silver and chrome.

Chrome. Picks out the detail of the contours really nicely. And it's described as 'dark' chrome, so that's probably quite tasty.

Ipod connection was available from October orders using MODIS code IPOD. I haven't seen or heard anything about a cd changer option.

I will go for the sport wheels painted in Nero Opaco as a special request. I think those wheels will suit my yellow 458 perfectly.

Sport wheels look superior with any finish on them. Which yellow; the new pearl yellow seen on the Paris showcar 458?

IMHO, the "standard" rims look much better and interesting; I thought those were the optional ones actually. The thin 5-spoked "sport" ones are imbalanced for the body style. The standard ones are reminiscent of the 512M's wheels, very awesome.
