I took delivery of my car on July 1 and the transmission is bad. Ferrari is giving the dealer the run around and has yet to approve a new transmission. While it was a glorious 250 miles I am immensely disappointed. Ferrari has offered me a ford rental car for my trouble. This is not the way great romances are to begin. At the earliest I won't have my car for two weeks

Also, my wiper fluid doesnt work and the side marker lights are filled with water. If I weren't short €1bb of Italian sovereign debt (I know trans is German) I would be more upset.

Sorry to hear of your honeymoon issues, but I am sure she will make it up to you in a very special way as soon as she is mended. And you seem to have a very understanding attitude under the circumstance and the fancy Ford loaner to boot.

You do not deserve the bad luck, but hang in there, they will make it right and in the end you will soon forget the few ugly weeks that you are having........Steve

Bummer! Sorry to hear about your troubles Matt. :( You'll be up and running soon enough! :D

Regardless of who manufactures some of the pieces that go into a Ferrari, Ferrari is still responsible for ensuring quality control and reliability by it's suppliers. All the various issues people are having is definitely disappointing.

The "events" included random shifting from 1st to 7th and then neutral. Car hesitated in wet, sport, and race. Also, transmission light came on and only went off intermittently.

All this said, my wife who has not been in the car yet, is in love with it and scorns my GT3 RS. We were supposed to go away this weekend without our toddlers and she (and I) are bummed that we need to settle for a Porsche :).

didn't have a single problem in more than one year and 10 000km... whereas on my Audi S4 the transmission died after 600km and the pump of motor cooling system broke down one year after purchase.
Seems that the 458 is pretty reliable, but at the end, it is a question of luck!

Check with the NY Attorney General's Office about the Lemon Law in your state. In Florida, if you buy a new car, within the first 2 years, if it's in for repairs for 14 days or more (consecutive or non-consecutive within the first 2 years) you can start the Lemon Law claim. Any vehicle that is in for repairs for 30 days in instantly a 'lemon' no questions asked. A full refund or a brand new replacement are the two legal options offered.

Ferrari's do get lemoned, more often than people think. There are public records available that shown every make and model that gets processed this way.

IMO it's always best to start the process off if you find yourself in this position. You don't need an attorney and it costs you nothing but 15 minutes of form filling. Once FNA gets served the papers you will be amazed at what happens next and the ball will be in your court to play with. They will be like butter in your hand!

Does anyone find it ironic that Ferrari would hand out a Ford as a temporary replacement car? lol

Thanks for reminding me of the lemon law. I put the dealer on notice that I will pursue lemon law if it is not back to me in 20 days. Ferrari corporate are *******s.

Sounds like Ferrari dealers don't seem to realize they're servicing $300k cars, not $60k MBs and BMWs....a little surprising at this stage of the game and rather disappointing.

Update: Dealer is fantastic and due to tersely worded email envoking lemon law, corporate has woken up and will be expediting this process.

That sounds like a transmission computer software issue.

I wouldnt except the car.I would expect a dimished value on resale once disclosure is made.I know myself. I would check service records if I was looking at a used one.I as well purchased a new 458 and it had a issue undisclosed at purchase the dealer was scrambling when it was revealed.I cant discuss it on the site.So if you need to PM me and I can tell you the dynamics and resolution

I hope it was a Ford GT.
That's great. But how long has the car already been away from you? And,to the best of your knowledge, how much longer will it take to fix? And how many MONTHS did you have to wait while the car was being built? And like KINGMONKEY said, how will this all affect the resale? ..."Expediting the process" is the least Ferrari should be doing. I'm not the type of person that milks any situation or sues at the drop of a hat. But something more is in order.
