I have no idea what to recommend, but I have a pair- totally cute ones. After all, how can I be racing around in my heels? A girl has to have shoes for all occasions!

I have a pair of Geox driving moccasins. They are very comfortable for long trip and driving. But if you intend to walk around in them for a while they tend to be rough on my arches. But if you are looking for strictly a driving shoe they are awsome. You can pick a pair up a Nordstroms. They have a few pairs of driving shoes to choose from.

HS Trask makes some fantastic buffalo driving mocs. Very euro black with beige stitching. For just driving, my pic is Fila.

I just got the speedgear catalog... those MS driving shoes w/ the flames are only $30! I am totally torn between really wanting a pair and feeling like the uber-Ferrari-geek. The descision was easy when they wanted $150 for them, @ but $30? Tempting.

any tods mocassin will do for casual driving around. (hint: you can get them from llbean for $65 and they are just as good). or if you want the real deal, speedgear is selling out (if you have a small foot) or you can get them from puma for the same price as the latest running shoes.

I had some Piloti driving shoes. Wild red soles. Didn't feel great on my feet so I sold them to Tillman. He liked them until his dog ate them.

I have pair I wear for driving, for jeans/khakis everyday I LOVE, Diesel.
(I have Hugo style). They by for the most comfy shoe ever and they are made like a racing shoe, so they work great with Ferrari's pedals.

Then for a more dress driver I have two pairs of Cole Haan, what else can be said they are Cole Haans, if you own a pair you know what I'm talking about, VERY comfy, feels almost like your foot is wrapped in a single piece of stiched together leather.

Pedal feel from both brands are exceptional !!

I use Asics wrestling shoes which are perfect, but not Nomex. Check out eastbay.com. If you have a Cobra 427 they may melt on the floor. But otherwise are great driving shoes.

Timberland's Belize Bay Venetian loafers are some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, period. They have some sort of air sole or some such gizmo. I bought two pair, and my dad liked them so much that I now only have one pair...

Definitely the Simpson hi tops for track and autocross. For "casual" driving, I have a good pair of Timberland mocs that are narrow enough to work well on the pedals but comfortable enough to walk around in.

These are the only brand of shoe I wear now. If you've seen the ads they breath. If you have feet that get hot and sweaty they pretty much stop that. They have several styles to choose from.

Puma Grit Cat. I put a solid 5 walking miles on them in Santa Barbara 2 weeks ago with no problem. They're definitely casual/sneaker style, but so am I. $75 and I ended up ordering a couple other pairs in nuetral colors.

I agree with Spaso here, I personaly wear simpsons in all 3 of my rods. The Honda's included.

Best bet is keep them "IN" the car, and keep your shoes that you're going to wear "out" of the car (or the ones you got in the car with) in the passenger side floorboard. I've found over time it helps do several things:

1: If you ever "race" the car or plan on track days, your shoes are the same as you drive in every day. Consistancy breeds reliabiltiy. Pedal tangle sucks.

2: Less wear on the pedals. Sounds dumb, but I can get 4 pair of Simpsons for the price of a 308 pedal cover set.

3: Better feel. If you have a throwout bearing etc... going, even through a hydraulic clutch, you'll feel it. The response from the car is always better the closer you get to barefoot. All you need is to not have the pedals "hurt" your feet, and that's where the sole is thick enough.

Try it. I started wearing my race shoes during street driving to help get reaction times down in the drag del Sol, then later went to a line lock clutch release on the shifter handle. I got so used to wearing the Simpsons in the car I never quit. Not that I needed the practice anymore because I was leaving off the delay box, but it just felt better for me all the time.

I'm surprised no one has really detailed the Oakleys yet. I own many pairs of shoes for driving and climbing. The Oakleys are best, especially for extended periods of hard driving. Superior tactile feel through the front of the shoe to the toes, but provides lots of support for ankle back if you are an open wheel driver :) Note I am talking about the full boot (not the low shoe). As an added bonus, it is easy to pull them off underneath regular pants since they just look like a crazy pair of shoes instead of boots! I recieve many compliments from people who think they are just some crazy shoes :)

As for regular road driving (cruising) comfort, I'd say the Puma line is best. I have a few pairs of Diesels I'm fond of, but none so much as the Pumas. Puma makes a few pair of climbing shoes that work very well if you like grip and a thin sole.
