My 430 stumbles at start up. It does not idle fast but instead sounds like it is going to stall for the first few minutes. I talked to dealer,They said Ferrari was aware of this Issue but have no fix as of yet. Does anybody else experience this.

Mine idles a little rough but clears up after a couple minutes. With my secondary valves open 100% of the time it sounds awsome.

Mine does it and has stalled out once. It didn't do it in cold weather. The dealer says it is "normal" but I don't buy that. Time will tell.

Mine does it also for about 30-45 second, but only when I haven't driven the car for a couple days.

Yes. Dealer claims this is temperature related. Not sure what exactly that means. Mine didn't do this when temp. and humidity levels were much lower a couple of months ago - car barking at start-up. Now, car sounds like it's sick at start-up (hot and humid, even though garaged). When cold, I give it a little bit of throttle to "egg it on", maybe 2 to 2.5k rpms right after ignition. Then, as it warms up, no problem. After being driven and shut-off and re-started, say after a dinner date - she barks like new at start-up again. So, how can THAT be temperature related is beyond me b/c it's now out of the garage in hot weather.

I started a thread a while ago asking if anybody else had, what I thought at the time, a problem with the exhaust valve not opening at start-up.

Now I can see this is a common "issue" and it's not just MY F430.

Would love to hear a cure or fix for this...

Hate to say it, but mine starts and runs flawlessly. It is 11 months old with 5K miles on it. It is a stick shift, but I would not think that would matter.

I get a few seconds of rough and tumble until it evens out - I actually like the sound of the cold start up - sounds very raw IMHO.

Actually, it IS common. When this happens, shut the car off and re-start. That should take care of it.

I have had the same thing with my 360CS. I have just chaulked it up to within normal idiosyncratic things that most cars have. I had the same deal with my GT3.

Same on my CS. Dealer told me it's normal.

There was a software update to the ECU for the CS to eliminate the rough idle on initial cold start-up. The CS would actually be running on one bank of four cylinders. If you shut the car off immediately and did a restart, it would idle and run fine when cold. Do a search -- there were lots of posts on this fix.

Thanks Jack. I actually read all of those posts before I even brought it to the dealer. Since I don't have cats (straight pipes and tubi ngt), the dealer told me it's normal and I may still have the issue with the software flash. Probably BS to get me out the door without them having to do anything, but since the issue is so common, and doesn't seem to harm anything, I just live with it.

Occasionally mine doesn't bark to attention on start up as Van said. Nothing to worry about though.
