as Monty Python would say....... with prices on everything adjusting a bit, some examples out there are fairly tempting....looked at this one for a minute: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1995-Ferrari-456GT_W0QQitemZ350196020477QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item51894f34fd&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 says clean carfax, but offered no description of the vehicle.. pulled a autocheck report: http://65.55.33.151/att/GetAttachment.aspx?file=523c88d7-9d4b-4560-ba82-111a311e08cd.html&ct=dGV4dC9odG1s&name=cmVwb3J0IGZvciBWSU4gemZmc3A0NGEyczAxMDAzNDUuaHRtbA_3d_3d&inline=0&rfc=0&empty=False&imgsrc=&hm__login=lazybulldog&hm__domain=msn.com&ip=10.12.134.8&d=d242&mf=32&hm__ts=Mon%2c%2004%20May%202009%2011%3a41%3a27%20GMT&hm__ha=01_9bc598947af4bc82d7037ae188dea40afa22b325fe029fc95fe051e08823703c&oneredir=1 seems on 11/07/2002 mileage was 34,469----then on 6/07/2006 mileage was 34,434.....even if mistake was made, that's 0 miles in almost 4 years..a bit fishy.. as always, if it seems too good to be true...........................
From the listing: "Take advantage of the strong CDN dollar! " Hasn't updated his template in a while...
I'll take a chance on it if they want to trade even up for a 2001 BMW 330Ci!!! j/k of course!!! i have always loved the 456's seriously though, that color looks great on the 456, anyone know its official designation??? only says gray in the description?? doug
FWIW, the wheels aren't authentic 575s. Look like the cheap "Modular Wheels" from Miami. Rear spacers look like at least 25mm.
scary part is theres no mention of last service..if the window issue was corrected etc..biggest red flag is the speedo picture the 3's a bit high and thats a lazy 8!!even the trip odo is off centered...
With regard to the speedo the 3 looks correct and I believe the 8 is low due to it recently turning 38K. Like many members here I'm also on 6speedonline and based on member/buyer comments it 'appears' Chicago Motors is a reputable seller. I have no affiliation with the car in question or Chicago Motors.
of course its possible there was a mistake made when someone entered in the mileage in carfax...not the first time that's happened. i remember someone on a forum having a major problem because when they registered a car in i think Florida, the state added like 10,000 miles to the registration. he then attempted to register it in Georgia (after moving there) with a lower mileage than the registration indicated and of course the state said wait a second here....and that's not an easy problem to fix. as always, do your due diligence and you should be okay.
6-Speed. That's the one to have. I doubt it's had a service as they would have mentioned it as a selling point. I think this car would be a great buy at 40K. After you get the service done. You will end up with a really great car. PPI of course.
Agreed. However.....take Autocheck with a grain of salt. Carfax has errors here and there.....but Autocheck has them quite frequently. Not saying they made an error on this listing.....but just be careful.
fair enough....PPI would be first order if interested, but any issue that pops up on either car fax or auto check or google or whatever tends to cloud the car a bit....I do like color combo and 6 speed..I guess my question was what was it doing for four years with no miles? I know some of my girls sit for a while, but kinda makes you wonder....I certainly could understand a mistake in the title office regarding the "rollback"--I know it's impossible to read my writing..anyway, could be right car for someone--depending on final figure, of course.
Dunno, looks pretty decent to me. I'd take the carfax thing with a grain of salt and look a the car as it sits and determine if all else flanges up. Looks decent enough for age/miles based on pictures, "if the price is right". Leather on seats looks a bit too good from the pictures, given mileage/years, would not be surprised if they have been touched up at some point.
I was in their dealership once when I lived in Naperville, IL. and drove a Porsche GT2. The price was right on that car but it had significant repaint and was seriously out of alignment even after they said they had it aligned. It's just one data point, but buyer beware.
I was interested in this car and gave them a call. They have no service history on the car and cannot tell me when anything was done. The car is on consignment. The following were noted from my call with them: Both windows need to be done Parking brake light stays on Windshield has a crack near the hood They say the hood is missaligned resulting in contact with the doors; more likely they were just flung open and have the usual contact from this misstreatment... They "say" the car drives great and they seemed to know the common faults; even if they haven't been corrected on his particular car... I would take a chance on this car, but not at that price in this market. It is aggravating that people who buy these cars with more money than brains do not understand the value of the service history and then want stupid money without it.
I purchased a car from Chicago Motors and another friend bought a 575m from them as well, never a problem. This was over 2.5 years ago, things can change, but I know of two VERY satisfied customers. Robert
