First, this thread is not what you're thinking...no pics of young red haired girls here...just a low-mile Testarossa! If all goes to plan, this beauty will be in a truck next Tuesday on it's way to SoCal. Can't wait!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
No way, Jose. I might be nuts but I ain't crazy. I just got tired of looking at my Scottrade balance and decided it would be more fun to drive that cash around. Thanks to my ever amazing wife - who supported the decision against every instinct in her body.
Glad to hear you are still keeping the 355 Remember I PM'ed you a few months back asking to buy it?? I couldnt afford it now after the 17k you just put into it! I said it before and i will say it again...your 355 is one of the nicest out there
Good cars are out there and available if you look hard enough.... Some things are irreplaceable! My compliments on both!
Ah!Two very important things in a man/TR relation: Cash and a shrewd wife! LOL! You better get prepared for the great kitchen remodeling of the century! Ask me how I know! Of course I will not ask Shamile to comment on that!
Thanks for all the comments... Dominic, if I ever lose my mind and decide to sell the F355, you've got first dibs. Francois, you are a wise man. My wife started dropping hints about remodeling around the house and she made up a list of a few other things I had to agree to. I have to give my wife credit though, she did throw out the idea of going for drives together - her in the F355 and me in the Testarossa. Now, that is a cool woman! Request for more pics...here's the online ad. http://www.canepacollection.com/detail-1986-ferrari-testarossa-fitted_luggage-used-5092302.html Thankfully, the custom knock-offs (pictured) on the GTO wheels have been replaced with the original hex-nut / cap.
RICK --- Congrats on your find! Do you have any concerns about the age vs. lack of regular use --- internal corrosion, dried out seals / gaskets, electrical contamination etc. ???
Sure, I've got some concerns but it's rolling off the truck and straight into surgery for a full major. It was kept in a climate controlled building for much of it's life so I'm hoping it just needs fresh belts, fluids, seals/gaskets and tires.
Congrats - beautiful color combination. Are the original wheel tires the metric TRX kind? I was unable to find the rear tires from Coker this fall, but did get the two fronts.
Congrats.. Beautiful car.. Hopefully after the major you'll put some well needed miles on her.. Drive on.. R
I have not seen the original wheels but I can only assume they are the metric/TRX type. Thankfully, the GTO wheels appear to be in "normal" 16 inch size. Thanks. Indeed...I plan to drive the bejeezus out of her.
I tried an experiment a few years back when I put full tread depth, DOT approved race tires on 16" TR wheels..... read CHEAP! For the miles the car was getting and the fact that the regular street tires were going petrofied and dry rotting before they wore out, I thought it was worth a try. My plan was to change them out every 2 yrs before they went hard. The car was used conservatively for regular street driving in town. Short answer is the owner liked them so much he is now wearing them out every two yrs by actually driving the wheels off the car. At the time the race tires were less than 1/4 the price of the regular street tires.... the numbers worked out quite nicely.
Thanks for the clarification. I believe this TR is a mid/late 86 based on the VIN# and position it comes relative to the other single mirror cars (found the single mirror registry thread last night)...so the original wheels have a very good chance of being the 16" variety. Spasso, when you say "modern" rubber isn't available on the 16 inch wheel - what does that mean? I found BF Goodrich tires that look to be a fit on Tire Rack. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+Sport&partnum=55WR6GFSP&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes Stop putting ideas in my head, Dave. lol. Thx!
