    Hello -

Seeking help with my roof. I put it down this AM and all was well...until I tried to put it back up tonight. When I try to close it, the windows go up (?), the little ears pop open behind the back seats, and then I get "roof failure" on the TFT. The next message on the TFT is "complete the roof cycle." If I pull back on the switch, the windows go down, the ears lock, and I get the message that the roof is closed (normal message). But...even in this state, I cannot open the trunk with the key remote, the button on the floor, or the key in the keyhole above the plate. So...clearly something is in the wrong position.

Any thoughts? I had this happen 2 years ago but the trunk latch didn't catch in the opening sequence, so I could at least get into the trunk and play with things. I'm a bit at a loss of where to start here.

Also - anyone know the warranty length on the 2010s? I have this fear that it was 24 months, which ended last week. Sigh. My manuals are the only thing in the trunk.

    Thanks in advance!
    Jim

I think the warranty is 3 years on the 2010s

Not sure if I can really help but I was on the fog rally drive when I came out in this morning and my trunk would not open. No response at all. I tried everything I could think of and had no success. I waited for Tony of T&R to come down. When isaw him I asked if he could help. He came over. Took then key and it opened. I **think** he did some kind of two button hold on the key (like hold trunk and door open for 5 sec or something). He wouldn't acknowledge it but it worked! Problem solved and did not return aill day.

    Hope this helps!

Keith and ferrarichat to the rescue! I love this community and thanks so much for posting this tip! My roof is now working fine.

Here's what I did: I tried holding the trunk open and door open buttons on the fob for 5s, and nothing happened. Then I started fiddling. I then held the door open button on the fob for 5s and that was the magic. After 5s, it appears the computer reset the locking mechanisms. The fob would then open the trunk. I confirmed nothing was in the way, closed the trunk, and tried to raise the top normally and it worked fine (with the windows going down first, as they should).

Thank you thank you thank you!

I have had problems with my truck popping open when I close the roof. The dealer has made a number of adjustments and it has improved, but still not quite there. One of the problems that persists is when I press the unlock truck button on the key, the alarm goes off. Seems to have something to do with the release mechanism. Anyone else have a similar issue?

If the car is locked, and you use the fob to unlock the trunk the alarm does go off ... but never if the car is unlocked first.

    Have you heart it.
Ferrari is changing warranty for 2012 model from 3 years on 7 years and service for free apart of exploitation parts.

I may be wrong, but my understanding was the 7 years was only for scheduled maintenance - warranty remains same as today. And even on scheduled maintenance, it sounded like 1x/year - so if you drive enough to require 2 oil changes, 1 is your responsibility. But....I've only heard what others have posted - not sure anything official has shown up in the US yet.

Please be careful not to mix up "warranty" and "maintenance".

Ferrari is including all scheduled maint for 7 years.

Warranty (i.e. stuff breaks) is still 3 years.

    What are "exploitation" parts?

There is official documentation on what is and what is not included in the 7 year service plan. That said, it is - as typcial for Ferrari - about as clear as mud! Its posted somewhere in a thread in the 458 area and likely can be gotten from Ferrari website or dealer.

On your question re a limit of 1x service per year. That is not how it is written. You get the services as needed covered under the program, regardless of when you reach the mileage (or not reach the mileage as is usually the case, then you get them on the calendar basis).

Keith - you are the man! I had the exact same problem. I held various buttons on the fob down for 5s and it works. The system reset and the trunk opened. Thanks again for posting!

Hi everyone. I bought a 2011 about a month ago (12kmiles) and have begun getting a roof failure warning almost daily. While the roof seems to to function properly, I have notice that the warning most often comes when I'm going over a steep or sideways incline. Typically goes away after a while. Does this sound like a "reset" as discussed above or could it be something more serious?? Appreciate any suggestions!! Love this forum....appreciate the input

    Get you hydraulic fluid checked.

Computer resets help too. Do all the things posted previously in this thread. For me a complete shut down, leave the car, then come back & restart corrected a few of my computer glitches.
Low hyd fluid (via minor leak) dented my top bc the folding mechanism on an opening cycle slammed down on the top and the 2 seating pins dented the top. Becareful...
