Just wanted to extend congratualtions to fellow F-Chatter Manny Del Arroz and his stunning 375 Mille Miglia Sport Speciale chassis number 0490 AM for winning the Gran Turismo Cup for Best of Show GT Ferrari at the 2005 Palm Beach Cavallino Classic. This after having just won 1st in Class at Pebble Beach and the Luigi Chinetti award at the FCA annual meet in Monterey. Way to go Manny!

    Absolutely...! Congratulations, Manny...!

Malcolm, very well said... 0490 is a beautiful Ferrari... i had a chance to speak with Manny after the awards banquet; he's a very humble gentleman and is genuinely appreciative of the opportunity to show the car...

Carbon, i don't mean this as an offence, but when is your bday? I'm gonna get you a book on how to photograph cars. C'mon man, you gotta wait for the people to move before you take the pic ;)

Hey Now, leave Carby alone! He has contributed so many wonderful photos to this site. (Some of my favorites are of the black Lusso near Pebble Beach!) When there are so many people surrounding a car, it is not easy to ask everyone to move. Glad I got that off my chest. Feel better already:)

Barchetta, thank you... There wasn't ANYone around when Ausbrooks and i were photographing that Lusso... We thoroughly enjoyed it...

Chris, no offense taken, i totally understand where you're coming from... In my defense, though, it was CAVALLINO...! :) There were people walking around constantly and it was pretty difficult to get a shot off without someone in front of, in back of or near the car... Adding to that, the judges were all checking that car out when i passed and decided to snap off a picture... Lastly, my camera was broke... It could still take pictures, but i couldn't see what i was taking a picture of on the LCD screen and was just taking pictures hoping they'd come out well...

i understand where you're coming from and i wish every picture i took could be absolutely perfect with no one in it, but at events like these, that's really tough unless you get there REALLY early...

Above all else, though, i appreciate your constructive criticism... If i had meant that picture to be a great "front cover" shot, i would be in need of some serious constructive criticism... Thank you... :)

    Here's a shot that's a little better... :)

I completely understand. One of my pet peeves is not getting just the perfect photo. Whenever i take pics, i take tons from the same angle to get it perfect, i'm just trying to help out. I understand completely that its Cavallino. Hell, if i was there all my pics would be blurred. I'd be shaking with amazement at all the Ferraris!

The pic you posted is a lot better ;)

Perhaps some tongue-in cheek reference? Some may recall Carby's near-futile experience that resulted in one clear shot - the Enzo in Monterey which he took a dozen shots of in an effort to get one, blessed, clear shot. I kept copies, as I was going to attempt a layering trick at some point with the crowd milling all over it - so, if ya need 'em as-is, I got 'em.

Anyhoo - just purty as a spring day, ain't it?

Congrats on all of the awards, beautiful car. Is it a pain in the arse to put fuel in it since the filler neck looks rather high?

Manny's car is Beautiful. The pictures don't do it justice.
I guess he was a bit upset because the car was placed in a not so good spot in the show. Oh well, he still won!

I've been told that 0490 AM will also be shown at the Concorso d'Eleganza of Villa d'Este in Como-Cernobbio from 22 to 24 April 2005.

Yeah, i thought that was kinda cheesy... They just made him wedge it in to this tight spot... Picture opps were bad and general viewing - with all those people there - was kind of difficult... Manny, next year, they should give you your own green with nothing else on it... :)

The changes made to the display area by the Breakers made the area where they were showing some of the most interesting cars made the area really restrictive, and it was on an incline as well!! I remember that area being much more open at past Classics. It seems like the Breakers is squeezing the remaining area to make it impossible to display cars in their best light. I was disappointed at the way the cars were displayed. It made photography very difficult as there were always people trying to squeeze by the cars and the bushes.
