I guess my idea of using a Ferrari as an every day driver was not a good idea. Last night my Ferrari was stolen in New Castle, Delaware. It is a 1989 Mondial t, VIN ZFFFC33A0K0082131 Cab. It is white with black convertible top and red interior. On the doors it says "Wapinski.com"; underneigth that it says "computers & imaging". On the top windshield and the back bumper it says "Wapinski.com". The windshield has what appears to be a stress crack (no chip). Starts at the top on the passanger side and is spreading. Yesterday it was about a foot to a foot and a half long thin crack. Milage is 49,xxx miles. All the windows were up, the doors were locked, it has an ignation lock, and it also had the shifter lock. Since I did not think the shifter lock could be defeated, I did not throw the battery disconnect. The police think it was done by professionals using a flat bed. Hopefully the survailance (sp?) cameras got something. If you learn any information about this, contact: Dave Wapinski 702-336-5599 or 302-345-1884 e-mail: [email protected] Or the Delaware State Police: 302-834-2620 x-555 Reward offered.
Dude, that's terrible! This thread should get the word out! I agree it sounds like a snatch and grab, using a Landoll or maybe a roll back. Good Luck! With logo signage and all......unbelievable. They'll bring it back when they learn what service costs are!
Sorry to hear this, Dave. I'll keep an eye out. I've "stuck" this thread for a bit to make sure it doesn't slide out of view.
ive heard that exotics get chopped asap, keep an eye out on ebay, and parts down in Florida. engine serial # - post everywhere !
Dave, I'm so sorry to hear that. I remember how much you wanted a Ferrari & its not fair that some jerrk come & take her away. I hope you get her back soon. Good luck
Dave, sorry to hear about this. Good luck with finding it. Maybe it makes sense for you to post a pic, so we can keep an eye out for the car.
Thanks for the thoughts and thanks for making it a sticky. Still in a state of shock over this. I will post some photographs of it showing the lettering, probably later today. The only person who has access and knows how to operate the digital video equipment is off to a furnal this morning. Hopefully it will have something. The police say they have a 75 % recovery rate. However, it was probably done by professionals who probably already have a buyer. My guess it was put in a container last night and is already on a ship labeled something like machine parts. If anyone hears of someone wanting to buy a Mondial t windshield (there are no aftermarket windshields) or is selling a 3.4 liter engine, let me and/or the police know. I will keep an eye on places like eBay. Thanks, Dave I will post some photos of it before the lettering (which are handy) and later some photos after the lettering (which I have to find).

So sorry to see this thread. What could they do with a rare car like this? Do they sell them in the Mid-east or South America, or do they usually chop them? I can't imagine it surfacing anywhere that it would not be found.
That's horrible. There are few things that can make a man feel more violated than having his ride taken.
Oh God, I'm really sorry to hear about that Dave. I remember reading an insurance report back in the early 90's about Mondials being on a list the most stolen vehicles. I always thought that was rather strange.
Make sure that you let the factory and Ferrari North America know that the car is stolen. If and when they attempt to order parts for the engine, etc., the serial numbers will give it away. Hopefully, you'll get it back. Art
Good point Art. Sorry to hear about this - hopefully it'll all get resolved in short order. What is your insurance saying about the whole thing? --Dan
Hope you get her back intact. And I doubly hope someone isn't "Pimpin' your Ride" or "Overhaulin'"...it looks fine just the way it was. I still remember the snow shots from ages ago. Bastages...
Dave - You were using a shift-gate lock, and the car was still stolen? If they took it with the gate lock, they must have done a number on the tranny as they winched it onto a flatbed. I remember when Dr. Stranglove had his stolen last summer... the world is filled with degenerate slime buckets. -Daniel
