Scuderia South Florida's own Martin Weischolek will make his official racing debut at the Continental Historic Racing Association's inagural event taking place at Homestead-Miami International Raceway September 30 through October 2. Martin will be racing his Ferrari 355 Challenge against other 348 and 355 Challenges along with Porsche Cup cars in the newly formed CHRA Vintage/Historic racing sanctioning body headed up by Tim Pendergast, formerly of HSR. The weekend will feature all types of Vintage and Historic racing at the state of the art South Florida track with practice and qualifying sessions on the Friday and Saturday and the feature race taking place on Sunday. Martin will be hosting Scuderia South Florida members at his hospitality compound at the track through the weekend. Single day tickets are $15.00, tickets for the weekend are $25.00 and overcrew credentials are $25.00 available through the track or at the gate so come out and support Martin's effort! Cold drinks will be available at the Cavallino Motors hospitality compound where we will be meeting. Those attending may want to bring something to put on the grille, a folding chair or two and walking shoes. We are also working with event organizers to have a Ferrari Corral and perhaps take a couple of parade laps around the track during lunch breaks. To RSVP please contact Martin directly at: [email protected] For more information on the Continental Historic Racing Association please visit their website at: http://www.chra.cc/index2.htm BHW
I'm planning to come all the way from Texas with a 355 Challenge. I'll be arriving Wednesday night and plan to test on Thursday. See http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=72956 How difficult is the track to learn? Anyone have a description of the racing line around Homestead? In car video from a 355 would be fantastic. See you then. Mark McKenzie
Both of you will need to be in touch with Martin. He will be turning the RSVP list over the CHRA so tickets will be alotted. BHW
Mark: Homestead is easy to learn. If you have a spare seat I can go out with you Thursday and show you around. The back straight back on the road course is scary because of the transition. The first turn (1) is full throttle in a 355Ch. Takes guts to stay on the throttle but it holds. I had only one chance to run that new course since the banking was increased. Made the transitions a lot harder and you can no longer be full out on the back. You will love it, believe me.
It is important to EMail your RSVP to this event in advance to Martin so he may know how many to expect in hospitality. [email protected] BHW
You need to move this to the Racing area for all to see. Tim and Joe Pendergast have put on great events for years. We need to try and get them "national" attention. I'm really looking forward to meeting all of you....especially Martin. All are welcome to come by my paddock aka "Moorespeed/Toad Hall". You can't miss our rig it's a monster at 54' long with a big awning out front. McKenzie's 355 will be with us along with a 962C, a 73 RSR, and a 911R. Please come by and introduce yourselves to me. speedmoore aka david moore
Please feel free to post something in the Racing section. We are rounding up Scuderia South Florida and FCA Members to come out and enjoy Cavallino Motors' hospitality and to support Martin in his first "official" race. There will also be shameless plugs for the Scuderia South Florida Poker Run Rally II. BHW
Should be a great time. There is already an active thread in the Racing Section. See: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=72956
For those that are going to the Homestead CHRA event on Sunday, some of us are planning to be at the track early (8:00-8:30AM) and Luc is planning to make breakfast on the grille in the paddock. Some of the guys are planning to meet at Cracker Barrel (I-75 in Margate) at 7:00AM and then caravan down. A catered lunch will be served to those whom have sent in their RSVPs to Martin on raceday Sunday. BHW
Good luck to Martin! Sounds like a great time for SSF. I won't be able to be there as I made plans to go to the NYC Central Park Concours this weekend. Sunday is Ferrari day. Have any of you visited the Ferrari factory store in Manhatten?
