I suspect % wise the depreciation would be similar to normal M3's; but higher purchase price equals higher $ depreciation for same %.
I can't see myself buying ANY new car > than $200k again because of the depreciation. Took me over 30 cars to come to that conclusion :(

The 550 would make a perfect daily driver. I wouldn't think a 599 (ugly POS) would be $300k+ better

    scott, my sentiments exactly.

i will start looking for either the 550 ot 575M, Ateko have sent me emails re the 612 and the discounts being offered are good but i just dont like the look from the front, its too asianee, if u know what i mean

and the BMW saga, never forget, if you dont sell it u never record the loss, just ask all the 8 and 7 series owners who have kept the car for 20 years

Yup, my current thinking is to keep the CSL and eventually park it and buy something else.

I like the F1 for daily use, so I would go for the 575 just for that. A friend of mine recently sold his 575F1 for $300k even FYI.
The 550 is the preference if you want a manual, it is a better car as Phil said.
I am with you on the 612, it's butt ugly IMO.

The first time I drove an E46 M3, I actually checked the mirror on one occasion - to see if I left the diff on the road  [after what should have been a normal gearchange]

By comparison, the 575's gearbox doesn't have the extremes of the M3.
[extreme hard or extreme soft changes]
If you are consistant in your driving style ie throttle inputs, rpm usage
the 575's F1 is very consistant, and surprisingly smooth in its gearchange.
    If your not, it isn't....

I drove a pair of Maserati 4200's recently.
Their gearchanges were softer and friendlier than the 575's
The 575 had a consistant "hard edge" to it by comparison.
Infact, you could describe the whole 575 as a hard edged Maserati

If you are after a NICE 575, this is my old car:
    http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.dealer_vehicle?vehicle_id=2804809&current_rec=1&total_rec=4&sort_type=1&make_id=44&model_id=4126&state_id=4&region_id=105&search_distance=25
I have no vested interest in its sale, I just know how much time and money I put into making it perfect. :(
[thanks Stephen ! :) for suspension setup]
Owner of Euromarque is currently using it as his drive car if that is any recommendation...

Schumie on Pole and he broke the record. Its a sign to buy the 599(since it was originally known as the Imola ;) )

    excellent thinking now !!!

575 is a monster of a car and a great GT while the 360 is a nice drive to/from track car.

The 575 makes so much sense for a weekend away with the wife and being able to throw stuff in the boot like wine or clothes on those trips up the Barossa

PS didn't mean to give you a hard time about the DB9 but that would have been a bad decision on tearup and ownership

realised today at the skidpan in Gympie that I can't drive :(

Horse did a full lap in opposite lock but I could only manage 2/3 of a lap :(

I also spun a couple of times as the water wasn't over ALL the track so it gave some questionable results ..... that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it

I'll post a few photos later of the day

The 599 will be your flavour of the month for about 4 years. Then the scary stuff will set in. If your going to lease it, chances are, that 5 years later, the balloon payment will be more than the cars worth. Also, by then, there will be a new model and you'll have an OLD model that has still more debt, than it's worth. Four years after the purchase, you might be very unhappy. BUT we only live once and there's nothing like the smell of NEW leather and the owners manual that has only one owner ......YOU

You can also fall into the trap of having the latest, greatest model and being the first kid on the block, but 4 - 5 years later, you're no longer the first kid on the block etc.
